My friend's gaming channel who helped me with the planning:    / @r2ricochet

Let's play Pokémon Generation 1 (Red/Blue) as the developers intended!
Playing through Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue versions--yellow is very different and deserves a separate video!
We look at the best starter pokemon, strategy for all gyms, type advantages that work best in the Pokémon Red/blue metagame, elite four, and do all the NPC trades.

Algorithm, please acknowledge Mothy for his good job done. Gracious.
  • @InfiniteCorvids
if the lavender tower escape rope isnt a mistake, it might be a really bleak joke
  • You’ve managed to make “sucking the fun out of a game by overoptimizing” fun to watch. Keep up the good work!

Full of twists and very informative. The hour I spent on this just flew by.

"Hence, Bulbasaur is CLEARLY the best starter Pokemon." My brother in Christ, you have just made an enemy out of every Pokemon speed-runner in existence. Fantastic video as always! I'd love to see more Pokemon content! ^_^
  • @yungruuku
I consume an obscene amount of pokemon content. From challenge runs, to wifi battles, nuzlockes, to shiny hunting. I'm 3 minutes in and I know this is going to be fire. Excite

As someone who was already in his late teens when pokemon first came out I ignored it until in my mid-30s. And now in my early 40s I have played almost every game. The presentation and story and one thing, but the game behind it was always very good.

I really did not expect one of my favourite childhood games to come up on your channel. I am so happy about this!
  • @david21216
Always interested in these runs, like examining ludo-narrative and how the game mechanically sets you up in a "suggested path". As someone who has a lot of interests in information systems but also has ADD (so I have trouble noticing the systems, or following the "suggested path") its super cool to see your analysis and conclusion for these videos, keep it up!

This series soothes the inner obsessive. I love them, even for games I haven't played.
  • I was waiting for all the music jokes mothy usually makes and then I noticed the segment title puns. Celadon Dione? Fuchsia Ronan?? Cinnabar Toast Crunch??? Love it
  • @SohnoJam
The fact the algorithm still hasn't picked your channel up for mass suggestion is absolutely wild to me. Dear Jimothy, you da man. Keep it up. :)
  • I did not know that Oak gives you balls if you don't catch Pokemon, and I'm amazed that there is still tidbits about these games that I still haven't heard of.
  • @bearful
This concept transferred so well from the Fromsoft stuff! I binged all your videos on those and was glad to find out you're continuing the format. Honestly, I could see those kinds of analyses helping with game design one day... Fingers crossed you make it big, yippee!!!
  • @TheTikus91
I'm so happy to see you continue this type of analysis to other video games! While it's still hard to apply it to blind playthrough, it does make me appreciate the various developers decisions in their video games. Keep up the great work!
  • This was brilliant. The parasect strategy in particular astounded me.
