Great video, we used to swim at the Lido in the late 80s, around the same time I took up skiing, but sadly not at the Lido. Looks like David Nations OBE, the father of British Water-skiing, in yellow top and blue trunks, who discovered the sport while in south of France and introduced it to the UK just a few years before this film. (Or is he the slightly older chap in red trunks ?) . The Lido and skiers were featured in Cliff Richard's movie "The Young Ones" in 1961. And yes, I can vouch for the comments of how much stress it can put on your arms n shoulders, I'm still suffering daily back pains from a freak accident I had in '91 that ended my skiing days. Ah well, was great fun at the time !
