Indiana Fever — Christie Sides, Kelsey Mitchell, Aliyah Boston, NaLyssa Smith after win in Phoenix

Published 2024-06-30
Christie Sides, Kelsey Mitchell, Aliyah Boston and NaLyssa Smith talk with reporters Sunday afternoon following the Indiana Fever road win over the Phoenix Mercury, 88-82.

They trailed 14-2 after the first four minutes of the game and went into halftime trailing by 11. But then they outscored the Mercury 29-15 in the 3rd quarter and got several late stops to complete the comeback.

Caitlin Clark was one rebound short from becoming the first WNBA rookie (and Fever player ever) to record a triple double: 15 points, 9 rebounds and 12 assists. Boston had 17 points and 8 rebounds, Mitchell scored 16 (all in the second half) and Smith added 12 points and 15 rebounds.

Clark did not talk postgame because she felt ill throughout the entire game. But here's what she said before the game    • Christie Sides, Caitlin Clark pregame...

This was the Fever's fourth straight road game; the final game is on Tuesday in Las Vegas.

Y’all ever think that CC doesn’t want to be at all of these and would prefer her team gets some time
  • So happy Temi was back. She’s a big and we really need her. 🏀

Everybody played so well in stretches today. Kelsey showed up so big at the end, NaLyssa went hard all game and AB was solid. Mama Lou hit a big three, and CC’s passing: just incredible.
  • Saw a stat, CC was responsible for 44 of 88 pts. She is just amazing, and so many young fans out there to see her! Awesome to watch.
  • It just continues to blow my mind, the level of defensive pressure, physicality, constant blitzes, etc the opposing team puts on Clark by their BEST defenders every game more than ANY other player in the League & she's still able to put up the numbers shes putting up. Her future is so exciting.

You can see how much Fegbenle is needed. She is the enforcer that Boston is not (too nice) and she doesn’t just rely on her height and size around the basket, she is creative and unpredictable.
  • I had no idea Caitlin wasn't feeling well. She still almost got a trip dub and they won the game.
  • The media is going to have a field day tomorrow.....I can hardly wait...I was on the edge of my seat throughout this game...

They should let them do team interviews one at at time like this so Caitlin doesn't get asked almost every question. This is so much better to watch.
  • @vin3201
Mitchell and Boston is key as 2nd and 3rd options when Caitlin gets heavily covered. Eventually teams have to choose and this will give Caitlin more room. Boston and Mitchell are both doing their jobs well.
  • You just beat the 4 Olympic players that should tell the whole team that when you play as a real team you can win !!!❤❤❤❤
  • This was a great game and Griner is 6’9 and nice soft shot but out rebounded by Caitlin - and what a passer - she and Aliyah really working
  • I am a CC fan who is also a big fan of AB too. AB such a quality young woman. I love when this team wins together. Good luck Tues. night. It will be tough game.

Great team win! They made plays both in offense and defense against a taller, more experienced team. They kept their patience and composure all throughout, not giving up when they were down 15. Resiliency is the name of their game. BRAVO!👏👏👏

CAITLIN 15 PTS 9 REBS 12 ASSISTS and THE WIN ...... THE SKY LOST TODAY SO FEVER IS NOW AHEAD OF SKY GREAT GAME ( CC A TRUE LEADER LOVE THOSE 12 ASSIST ).
  • @JE-IC
I wish Caitlin would have stayed in the game at the end so she could have a chance at a triple double. She only needed one more rebound...
  • Hint to the WNBA - don''t use noise cancelling microphones for post game interviews.
