HOW TO GET RID OF SKIN TAGS β€” DR. ERIC WESTMAN

[Conversations with Dr. Westman: Episode 45]

You know by now that ketogenic diets are great for weight loss, reversing type 2 diabetes, and improving other issues related to metabolic syndrome. But what about skin problems? Did you know that chronically high insulin and blood sugar affect your skin? Yes! What you see on the outside reflects what's happening on the inside.

Insulin does a lot more than lower your blood sugar. It's also a growth-promoting hormone. Most of us know only too well that insulin helps grow our fat tissue. But insulin also promotes growth in other parts of the body -- including the skin, resulting in skin tags.

Find out more about skin tags in this episode of Conversations with Dr. Westman.

Thirty years ago in my mid-40s I had a huge amount of skin tags, so many so I cut them off regularly. In the arm pit they would rub against clothes and get inflamed. I even grew them on my eyelid. In hindsight it was clearly extreme insulin resistance. Haven't had any new ones in years since going keto.

Started keto Jan1 2018 and I had them on my eyelids and I never knew when they left but they're gone. Lots less eye floaters also.

I started Keto at age 57 and I will be 58 in July 2021. I am at my goal weight now, and enjoying clear skin for the first time in my adult life!! It's Keto for life for me!!

I have been keto for 2 1/2 years and lost 70 lbs. I had two skin tags when I started. One groin and one arm pit. Within a couple of months, the groin skin tag was just gone. But the arm pit skin tag is still there. I wish they were both gone, but one out of two isn't too bad.
  • Skin tags gone and also great improvement in a rare form of keratosis that causes ugly lesions. Not to mentionable the other amazing health improvements over the past 13 months of eating this way. πŸ₯°

So grateful for this video. I was one of those parents scrubbing my babies neck. Now I can make a plan with her Dr. πŸ™πŸΌ
  • Lol my mom always used to tell me that eating too much sugar gave you acne (I had it bad in my early teens). And I didn't believe her. Lots of other 'kids' didn't either, we just thought she was trying to keep out of the candy bowl. Hmm...turns out she was right, even if she didn't know exactly why!!!
  • I have numerous skin tags. They are horrible looking. They look like cabbages attached to my skin by narrow peduncles. I leave them as they are. They are living things and deserve a chance at life. I believe in live and let live.

I have found that my progressive condition of Dupuytren's disease (also known as Viking's disease) has completely STOPPED progressing. I still have two fingers that are very contracted but I have noticed no progression and the fibrous 'threads' that prevent the movement of the fingers are losing diameter. My condition was progressing at an alarming rate just 3 months ago when I started Keto. I have lost 32 lbs, I stopped having ocular migraines, (which I have suffered from for 12 yrs), as well. And folks, I am 61 yrs old ! I will never stop KETO. Losing my eyesight and use of my hands is something I just can't accept.

It would be good to edit in a couple of photos of what these skin conditions look like.

Could you address the presence of human growth hormone and the keto lifestyle? Is there an increase of HGH when using intermittent fasting?

My skin tags disappeared quickly on their own within a few months of starting keto. But I have seen a dermatologist for a few years now due to having many mostly flat moles all over my back, having some removed. After a year on keto I've noticed that the remaining moles seem to be just fading away.
  • I’ve been keto/low carb for 3 years now but still have my skin tags, but they are smaller in size will they ever totally go away?
