“Can you just recommend an AFFORDABLE olive oil that I can find in the supermarket?” This is one question I keep getting — and it’s a fair question. In fact, we’re working on a follow-up video to compare some of the big-name everyday extra-virgin olive oils… but there are so many out there. Bertolli, Colavita, Pompeian, Filippo Berio, California Olive Ranch… what are the ones YOU would like me to test and talk about?

It’s an excellent idea to bring a really fine bottle of olive oil as a gift to a dinner party.

I buy Chania Kritis PGI evoo 500ml from Lidl here in the uk for £6.95. It’s lovely and from the same area as the Greek one you reviewed. It’s a great great one for someone on a budget
  • Olie oil is a miracle medicine. I am from Izmir city ( Smyrna) of west Turkey. My father used to purchase stone pressed olive oil from his villager customers. My mum was cooking rice, pasta, soups, vegan meals...etc with olive oil. When i first purchased olive oil from a shop i shocked the taste was awfull, that time i realized how my mouth used to COLD PRESS VIRGIN OLIVE OIL. Real Virgin Olive oil always has a little bitter, a little heavy but flavored taste. For new beginners I would advise add a little ground red pepper or apple vinegar, oregano, lemon to your olive oil, and try it with bread , but not the sweetened breads, sourdough bread preferably. This way you can used to real virgin olive oil taste, than use your olive oil for any of your meals, except fries (don't waste your olive oil) Never ever buy a rafinated olive oil, and never go a cheap one. Enjoy your miracle Olive Oil.

In Croatia, the entire region called ISTRA has been declared the world's best destination for olive oils. Many of the oils in general, from Croatia, regularly win first places in competitions due to their quality. Just enough so that you have the information.

Last year while wine tasting in Paso Robles, Ca. My wife and I came across an olive oil tasting room. We decided to stop and try. We enjoyed it just as much as the wine tasting.

Wow that analogy of wine bottle made me go get a 25 dollar bottle of olive oil and to be honest it was worth while.
  • @johnbanach3875
Yes, you're right. It makes way more sense to drop some bucks on a truly fine EVOO that will last you a month than on a bottle of wine that you'll finish off at one dinner.

I am close to the Greeks in terms of olive oil use. Certainly much more than most Americans. Thank you
  • I ordered the Build 6 Sampler and Pruneti Mignon Collection (3x 100ml) and saved over $11.00 with your coupon code, thanks!
  • Awesome video made me think of my fantastic Italian grandmother. Life was good in those days.
  • This is the best i have seen so far an expert on olive oil thank you for your information.

I got the Tamia Green and the Oro just to try something different. The Tamia Green had more aroma and flavor than the Oro. Tamia Green is so fresh and bursting with fragrance and flavor. That's what I want in an EVOO.

Excellente!! Thank you for doing such a great informative video!! We'll definitely be trying these oils!! Cheers!! J & C

I first heard of watering down olive oil with other oils in 2000. Before that I heard of watering down milk with water. This video sounds like a path to quality oil, but what I enjoyed was watching them taste the oil. There are local olive growers in my county. To me, that would be the healthiest and what better way to buy something not shipped half-way across the Globe. With food, you are always trusting someone. I was told with rumored "watered-down milk" that you can "really taste the milk" in the pure one. So most importantly, trust your taste buds and any perceived changes in your health. Be observant.
  • Last year I purchased a wonderful bottle of Frantoio Pruneti Olio Nuovo (Tuscany, Italy) from Joanne at Olive Oil Lovers. Fresh, bright, lightly fruity with grassy notes, not overly peppery. Great on fresh greens, pizza, and grilled vegetables! Nobleza del Sur is next to try!! Great video and congratulations to Joanne for earning a perfect score! 💯
  • I take a spoon full before bed. In Fuerteventura there is quattrociocchi superbo extra virgin olive oil very good. Fuerteventura is very volcanic island
  • @ReaperOfSouls83
nice video and I appreciated the presence of some Italian oils. for me the Tuscan and Sicilian ones are the best, the Campania ones are also good, better if bought freshly made, if you hace the opportunity... they have an intense green color and an irresistible scent. Hugs to all
