It doesn’t matter if you’re a Gunn or Snyder fan I think we can all agree that WB sucks and they fucked up. They fumbled the bag hard.
-
I genuinely feel so bad for Henry Cavill. The guy seems like a genuine, wholesome person who is passionate about his roles and gives everything he has into them. Yet shady studio executives keep screwing him over because they don’t know what they’re doing. First Superman, then Geralt from the Witcher. Two roles Henry absolutely loved and had to leave behind because of corporate scum
-
The biggest villain in the DCEU wasn't Ares or Lex Luthor or even Darkseid, it was Warner Brothers.
-
The rock hyping up Superman vs Black Adam is still the funniest thing that happened in this universe
-
The Wonder Woman ending always puzzled me. It was such a breath of fresh air when Diana defeated the guy she thought was Ares and expected all the the bad guys to stop, but they didn't, and Steve telling her that sometimes bad people are just bad. It's like the studio went "Nah, screw the theme of the movie. People want a big, ugly cgi monster that contradicts the lesson the hero just learned. Brilliant!"
-
Well done! As a DC fan, it’s been infuriating to watch WB self-sabotage these films over and over again
-
As a huge fan of these characters and DC content outside the DCEU, this is a heart breaking story. So much potential ruined by greed and poor planning.
-
The one I feel pity for the most is Henry. I absolutely loved him as superman like he was to superman what Robert Downey junior was to Iron man. You couldnt picture anyone else playing those roles than them.
-
Quoting from the Green Goblin in NWH: “Strong enough to have it all. Too weak to take it.” This summarizes WB, they had something great at their grasp but didn’t know how to manage it. Great work with the documentary 🎉
-
it still hurts henry was let go in such a bad way. unforgivable. well put together video btw bro. really good

The DCEU failed because it came from a place of desperation rather than inspiration. Marvel studios earned its cinematic universe because it took years to build it up piece by piece with standalone films introducing the major characters before bringing them together in the first big crossover (The Avengers). DC/WB didn't have the patience to carry that out, and were more interested in catching up to their competitor as quickly as possible. To quote a comment I once read, "going from Man of Steel to Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is like going from Iron Man 1 directly into Captain America: Civil War." The final result was a cinematic universe that didn't feel as fleshed out or coherent as its competitor, especially with reactionary moves like trying to abandon Snyder's darker and more brooding tone in favor of emulating Marvel's lightheartedness. The biggest lesson to be learned in this is to walk before you can run.
-
They tried to recreate the success of the MCU without acknowledging what made the MCU successful. Instead of creating a clear and concise plan for the first few years of storytelling, they rushed into things. And when that didn't work, they just decided to do the cinematic equivalent of throwing feces at the wall to see what stuck. And what makes it even more embarrassing is that the DCEU started with one studio owning the rights to the entire DC catalog, yet couldn't come close to measuring up to the success of the MCU, which for most of its run so far had the rights to less than half of their characters.
-
Amazing breakdown. What WB did was disgusting and i will never forgive them for their treatment of their actors and directors
-
I will always miss Henry Cavill's Superman. He was my ideal Clark Kent since day one, and even when he had the WB executives against him, his delivery of Superman was charming, warm and full of hope every single time. Right person, wrong time I guess.
-
They should've gotten the guys behind the DCAU, Batman the Animated Show, and Superman The Animated Show. Tim & the rest of those guys actually understand & care about the DC Characters.
-
Basically DC should have copied what marvel did with Thanos but with Darkseid. That's it. Could have been simple, put out single films that unite the justice league.
-
The fact WB destroyed DC pisses me off
-
No matter how big The Rock's ego may be, I have to give credit to him for bringing Henry back, even if it didn't go anywhere.
-
The only problem is that they took so long to pull the plug. Lois Lane having Bruce Wayne's baby? That's nearly as bad as blowing Jimmy Olsen's head off in the desert for no reason.
-
The main thing I got from this that… A) WB and everyone else this pertains to wanted to blow their load immediately rather than putting in the work to get to that climax. Y? Cuz Money! They noticed Marvel’s success and wanted in on that immediately. Which leads me to B) Instead of being original and leaning on all the lore/moods and so on that they have at their disposal, they chose to just try and copy Marvel’s homework while changing some things here and there to make it seem like it’s wholesomely theirs🤦♂️. Marvel put in the leg work to get to where they were whilst DC tried to skip all that and just go straight to Justice League…with a 2hr or less movie…for JUSTICE LEAGUE 🤦♂️!
