Hiii :) This one is more vlog-style ...waking up by the ocean, slow start to the day, and doing my best to keep cozy in my van through all the rain. And, a solar eclipse (ish) ♡ Thanks for being here!

Hey :) I’m Christian Schaffer, and I’ve lived on the road full-time since May 2018. This journey began in 2013 when I left the corporate world to build my career as an outdoor adventure & travel photographer. After 14 months of SUV living - I bought the van I now call home. Van life enables me to experience and document the beauty of our natural world, while also having my home and office nearby. My hope is that by sharing my own personal highs and lows along this (sometimes) wild journey, you might be inspired to hit the road or spend more time outdoors. Maybe one day I'll see you out on that open road 🚐

*My van is a 2019 Ram ProMaster 1500 High Roof, 136" WB with 65K miles*

Christian Schaffer's videos are like the Mercedes Benz of vanlife vids. A little more rare but the top of the line in quality.

The mere thought of being there right now in that van whilst it’s raining is just phenomenally soothing. I could watch the rain drops slipping down over the glass whole my life.

I grew up in the mountains but ended up living in flat old Florida working a lot of stressful hours for a big company. When I miss my mountains and need to decompress I watch one of Christian's videos and get 15 minutes of total Zen. Her cinematography is better than most feature movies. I feel totally transported to wherever she is recording. And her music choices are spot on. Keep up the amazing work. It's truly one of the best 1% of all things on the internet.

When I watch your videos I am reminded of the saying "The worst day fishing is better than the best day working". To paraphrase - your worst day is no doubt better than the best days of most of us "out here". Keep doing what you do as long as you want and we will be here to watch.

The way you film the scenery, combined with the music you choose, is always so magical! I always look forward to your videos.

Those 5 shots of the Alpine canopy with the mist rolling through... pure PNW gold !!!

I’m sorry but it’s a little unfair how much talent you have. One person alone shouldn’t have all the great instincts it takes to capture dreary weather and make people envy you for being out there to enjoy it. I hate rain, but watching you go through so much to create such captivating content makes me appreciate it. It’s too bad the weather and conditions hampered your attempts to get a great shot of the eclipse, but can I just say the clip you showed of last year’s eclipse was just mind numbingly perfect. Don’t get me wrong I think music plays a role too, but how you manage to take advantage of angles and imperfections to set up a shot and create a mood is just mind blowing. When I first clicked on your videos years ago, it was a thumbnail of the view from the back of your van. How much do you wanna bet that you’re pretty much a pioneer for vanlifers today who saw that same video and thought “now that’s how you should live - out in the open and on your own timeline”. Bet no one expected to come across a YouTuber who shares her skills and talent with a camera. I’ve lost track of how many screenshots I take per video to use as my laptop iPad and phone backgrounds. You really can’t find a bad angle huh? Please don’t hesitate in putting content out there- any short video of a brief footage or montage is better than waiting weeks and months. Even if you think it doesn’t live up to your expectations, pretty sure it’s still gonna leave people in awe. I know you probably share short clips on other platforms but I only have instagram and open the app about once or twice a year so I rely mostly on your videos for screen grabs. Being able to rotate and see all the different places you’ve been makes me feel like I’m on a constant virtual tour of the best views and places. 😊
  • Love a rainy day… when I’m inside, warm, dry, and can relax and consider the good things.

Your artistry allows your viewers to enjoy some beautiful moments of what some would see as a dreary uninteresting rain at the beach. The music switches your attention from the gloomy rain, to a scene that has great content, and provides peacefulness. Another example of your storytelling, that mesmerizes your viewers!

You strike me as someone so strong, so intelligent, so vulnerable, so beautiful!

Sound of waves in the Ocean and raindrops on the glass windows - I can die peacefully! Thank you for sharing the experience 🤗💕🕊

No editing needed just real life being authentic to who you are !
  • @wildzenventures
Stunning views of the PNW, the fog in those trees, a favorite view! This is the time for peace, tranquility and reflection.

6:19 Aha, the audio transition is cool, when what is not very important turns into what is important - into nature.

Sometimes more often than not I imagine an acoustical guitar solo by Christian on a soft rainy day. Quenched much like the parse dry ground that has been patiently waiting for moisture ❤

Ha! I like how you caught yourself going into the details of Starlink, where it works, how cumbersome to set up, where the connection works best, the cost…. and then faded it out as you brought us back to what’s important, your art in the beauty around you. Great insight on your music choices too, you work a finer degree… yeah. Love those chocolate espresso 🫘 a delicious way to get a little wired. A nice way to endure this episode’s string of gray and honest hiccups. As always Christian, thanks for what you do. ✌🏼♥️🙂

it takes quite a bit of talent and courage to turn a mostly failed day into an entertaining, informative video. keep 'em coming.

Beautiful rain. There´s a saying: Rain for today, whisky for tomorrow . :))
