I am an Ear Doctor who had tinnitus over a decade ago but managed to get to the point where I cannot hear my tinnitus anymore. This video explains how I did it.

I must to say that this technique will not work for everyone, and I am not pretending that I have found a new cure for tinnitus. The information in this video is not new, just standard information you will find throughout tinnitus clinics around the country. All I am doing is explaining things in my own way. This is how I understand tinnitus, and this is what I tell patients when I see them with tinnitus (if I have enough time)

Tinnitus is also NOT my specialist subject, I just happen to have had it in the past. If you want treatment for tinnitus, I think it would be better for you to speak to a true expert at dealing with tinnitus. Most of what I know is in this video and therefore there isn't much point to come and see me about tinnitus. I would go to your local tinnitus clinic or see one of my colleagues about tinnitus - I have a list of people below:

Kiran Jumani / Nitesh Patel / Javier Moraleda / Simon Lloyd / Adolfo Bronstein

If you are offended or disagree with this video, I apologise and hope you see that this video was made in an attempt to help people with this condition. No harm was intended at all.

CHARITY NFTs
I am going to start making a collection of NFTs about environmental projects I am passionate about. They aren't for sale yet, but once I have a few I will put them on the blockchain. All profits will be donated to charities. This first one is about plastic in the sea, and I will find a charity that will accept a crypto donation. I will also make a video one day explaining the benefits of NFTs. It also gives me a chance to flex some artistic brain cells I haven't used in many many years.

  • IT WORKS!!!!!! I got tinnitus about seven months ago. A friend told me it existed and I was so choked that I made the mistake to check if I had it at night. From that point on, my life was invaded by extremely annoying noises in both my ears that I had never noticed before. They grew louder every day and I started panicking seeing that all the sources online said it had no cure. I got depressed and anxious thinking it was for life. I went to the doctor to check it. I had no hearing loss, so he washed my ears and some of the noises disappeared, but a constant whistle persisted in my left ear. I tried B vitamins and it got a little better, but not enough to give me my peace of mind back. So I tried Yoga, Chinese medicine, some tinnitus apps… But nothing really worked. And then I found this video. I decided to take it seriously and would never stay in silence. When I got home, I would put on some music. When I had to go to a room without music, I would sing or talk to myself. At night, I would listen to podcasts before going to bed. When I woke up, I would get out of bed right away. At first, I would always think about my tinnitus. I was afraid to stay in silence and hear it again. But I was doing my best to constantly DISTRACT myself paying attention to the next thing that would come to my mind. About a week later, it started to get quieter. Then I had to resist ALL the temptations to check if it still existed. Now, about a month later, IT’S NOTHING. Even in silence, I forget about it. And I'm sure it will get to the point where I won't be able to hear it at all. I can’t thank you enough, @VikVeerENTSurgeon. You saved my mental health, I meant it. And for people struggling with tinnitus, please stay strong. I was never into meditation or anything like that, but I've learned that you can control your mind. :)

1 week into my tinnitus attack I had a suicidal episode. I thought my life and work was _over_. I had gotten completely sucked into the online vortex of negativity. This video was the first positive message about tinnitus I had ever taken in. I listened to it 6-7 times over the following week any time i needed a voice of sanity. Vik, you made a huge impact on my little corner of the world. I can't thank you enough. 2 months later and the ringing went from front-and-center screaming at ~14khz, to a gentle background buzz that i really only notice when i go to bed (and it no longer provokes any anxiety). To anyone watching, I went from panic and listening to white noise 24/7, to resuming normal life and not requiring any masking at all. I have full confidence that in the next few months/year even the background buzz in quiet rooms will fade. Tinnitus does not need to be forever, which is not something online communities will tell you.

I suffered from tinnitus about 3 months ago, and I am 21 years old. I felt very anxious about this, knowing that I am studying in medical school. I really left everything in my life and continued to search for a cure for this annoying tinnitus. I began not to read, I lost focus, I was really desperate, but with reading the comments, they really give me a boost. New hope for healing. May God heal you all. I am grateful to you

I started noticing tinnitus some 18 months ago, was really stressed out for a long time. 6 months ago I found this video, now I dont notice the tinnitus anymore. I never really comment on youtube videos but this one deserves it
  • @mad_magz
I think a lot of tinnitus is muscular, jaw and neck related. Mine has improved almost to the point of unnoticeable buy working on posture, stretching my jaw and neck muscles and massaging the muscles around my head especially temples, and it has worked wonders. Posture is king here though and if you grind your teeth at night that is a massive trigger. Hopefully this can help someone else!

I have had tinnitus for 6 years now and have been sucked in to a lot of videos looking for my money but offering no insite or solutions . I can't believe I stumbled onto this video . I found it reasonable and realistic you definitely no what your talking about you lived it and offered up a guarded hope. I can see myself making at the very least some positive headway. Insite is power thankyou my friend.

I have tinnitus and I'm fine now. You can live with it. Dont fight it. Accept it as your new silence. It's not how loud it is, it's how much you don't give a damn about. It's take a bit of time. But you'll be fine
  • Thank you Vik, this was probably the most comforting and inspiring 42.29 minutes I've experienced in a long time.
  • @PaddyP538
I’ve had tinnitus for decades. But once in a blue moon it stops for like 15 secs, the moment I realize it stopped and I feel that sensation of peace and relief, it instantly comes back. 😭
  • @absoluteCAD
I’m so glad I found your sensitive video, dispelling lots of mythS about tinnitus. I loved your calm delivery and found my tinnitus went away whilst listening to your voice. Thank you for your time and effort on this one.
  • @Erika-gm2tf
This doctor is so reasonable. It would help the health of so many people if more doctors could be humble and open minded like this man.
  • @adamwynne6374
What an incredible video. You're an epic soul and human being Vik with so much wisdom. Thank you for giving so many people like myself hope and comfort and a whole new enlightened perspective. I'll be giving the loud ringing in both my ears which I thought was from playing drums as a kid and not equalising my ears properly while scuba diving recently no more attention. Keep doing what you do man, you make a huge difference. Big love from Perth Western Australia. Adam.
  • I want to share a story for those suddenly experiencing tinnitus: A few months ago i have had an ear-infection which resulted in to sudden deafness on the right side. My hearing dropped to about 50% after auditory test. This went on for a few weeks and after my hearing came back i started hearing a high-pitched tone. This tone was constant for months and i was afraid i was going to live with this forever, but now.... 4 months later the tone is completely gone. I remember scrolling through comments, looking for people experiencing the same thing but couldn't find one so i thought i'd share mine. Big up to all people living with tinnitus. Stay strong. Vincent.

Absolutely fantastic video and very true. I “thought” I first heard my tinnitus a few years ago, I concentrated on it, got stressed by it and it made it unbelievably loud. This got me stuck in a depressive loop. I was in a toxic relationship at the time and I believe this is the reason why. I also developed eye floaters around the same time. I believe this was all linked. Truth is, and I knew this to a certain degree, id heard it before, especially when I was stressed, after concerts, after I consumed large amounts of alcohol etc but never paid attention to it so was never bothered by it. 2 years later I am out of the relationship and happy, my tinnitus has improved beyond words. I used to hear it 24/7, I only ever hear it now if I’m in bed, when it’s very quiet and I’m pretty sure it’s what I’ve “always” heard and is totally normal. If you have just “developed” it, let me reassure you, you haven’t, you have probably had it for a very, very long time, if not since you were born - you have only just NOTICED it! Don’t give up hope, you will make a full recovery I promise!
  • Brilliant! It makes sense. You have a very comforting personality. Thank you for NOT selling something. THANK YOU!
  • @Flergenbergen
The way you explained this was very helpful to me. I still have tinnitus when I focus on it, but I am able to worry much less about it, which makes it much less noticeable. This was far more helpful than any medication or sound therapy. Thank you, doc.
  • @adrianriver915
You're absolutely right, Vik! My tinnitus journey started five years ago after stumbling upon a video about it. Sometimes it feels like my mind is about to explode from the noise, and other times it's peacefully quiet. I've learned it's all about focus. Doc Vik has been a lifesaver. No matter how bad it gets, meditation and self-awareness help tremendously. Now, I'm a healthier person with good hearing, just a bit paranoid sometimes. Thanks, Doc!
  • hello, i would just like to come back and update on my current state of tinnitus. (i posted my comment a while back when i first got tinnitus) when i first got it, it genuinely came out of nowhere. i know for some it’s due to exposure to loud noise or maybe some kind of injury, but i’m pretty sure i was just watching tik tok. the first moment i got it, i could have vomited, as gross as that description is, it’s true. i was so anxious, my nervous system was on such high alert that i couldn’t sleep. so, i found this video. it gave me hope that even if i wasn’t able to get rid of my tinnitus, i could live with it. i’ve had tinnitus for about a year now, i like to describe the sounds as high pitch silence. (basically a hissing but i don’t hear hissing) anyway, i came here to shed some light on tinnitus and how it still affects me. here’s the great part, it’s honestly doesn’t! i have become used to it after a couple weeks of having it. i also wouldn’t quite say it is quite either, but i rarely ever notice it now. even at when i’m going to sleep! crazy right?! but this isn’t to say i don’t have hard days, today is that day. (hence me posting this at 4 in the morning, lol) BUT i still am hopeful it will pass. this video gives me that hope, still. WE GOT THIS 😁😁…okay i should get some sleep now 😅
  • I have watched this video several times. I have gone from despair to relief and back to despair as the volume and tone of my tinnitus changes over time. Everytime I go into a hole of despair I watch this video and remind myself I can control and influence my thinking to filter out the noise. Thank you for making this video.
