We are turning a section of our back patio into a dream backyard oasis with a cheap above-ground pool! This week we are building a fence to surround the pool, mainly to cover the horrendous blue, but it also makes a great safety net for dogs and kids. This small area is already looking so good, but wee have a lot more to do to fully transform this space!

Just came upon your channel. I too have an above ground pool we installed 3 years ago. I'm 74. I found a Youtube channel called "Swim University". It has been very helpful in maintaining the balance in our pool. I ended up also taking a water sample to a pool store where they tested the water for free and then made suggestions as to how to clear up our algae problem. We are not obligated to buy from them, but it was easier than trying to figure it out on my own. Love your channel and the work ethic you have. You are so young and on your way to good things. Keep up the good work and enjoy life.

Having been "DIY when we were younger, so glad to see young people still doing it. Impressive.
  • You two are great role models for people of your age! To learn as you go and be humble enough to admit when you do something wrong is remarkable.
  • It is very smart to buy an inexpensive pool. It doesn’t raise your taxes and you could replace it every year. The important thing is to get wet and relax.

Hi, dude wear a mask when working dry cement and cement dust flies. You see what happens when you add water to cement, imaging your lungs (moist) and cement dust adhering to the lining of your lungs.
  • Watching y'all makes me feel pretty good about young people and our future. I see a lot of bad on the news, but then here you two come along. It makes me very hopeful, and happy.
  • @vincentcozza99
Your face when you saw the water green was PRICELESS!!! It's probably from the rain water because acid in rain changes the pool water. How much is admission to come over and swim lol. Enjoy yourselves!!! Peace

I love how Molly was helping you hold the wood from inside the pool, lol keep doing you guys.

Get a floating cover for the pool. A floating one is easy to put on it with just one person. It reduces the heat loss by evaporation, it reduces the amount of dirt going into the pool, and it reduces the amount of light hitting the water which reduces the algae growth. Get a flocculant. After adding it let the pump mix the water well, then stop the pump for some hours. That cloudiness of the water is a colloidal solution. The filter cant catch it this way. The flocculant agglomerates it so the filter can catch it. The pH must be around 7-7.2 for that to work. You can literally see it flaking.

I love that you first attempt to fix a broken item rather than jumping to replace it - the money you save by not replacing it can be put into savings. Instead of “buy used, save the difference” you just “fix it and save the difference”. Great job! 😊

The Intex C1000 filter is good enough for the size of that pool. Toss in a small float with a chlorine tab, keep the pH neutral with baking soda, and shock as needed. Good to go!

We have an Intex pool for the grandkids that we put up every spring on a pad on our concrete barn porch deck. Just use a powerful enough pump to properly filter the pool water and add pool supplements to control the algae, balance the ph, and use the chlorine tablet floats. We change our filters every two to three weeks. Our water is as crystal clear today as the first day we put the pool up. We also put a pool cover over the top when not swimming to keep the bugs and junk out. Easy care, inexpensive, and so much fun! Really enjoy your videos!

you guys should be very proud. You’re very handy.
  • I think you are going to be happy, fun, wonderful parents. Best wishes from 🇨🇦
  • Cement will cure under water and will be harder so don't sweat that I am a retired concrete Mason and seen a bunch of basements filled with water after the floor was poured without problems

Welcome back . Just a reminder to bleed the water out of your compressor so it doesn't rust from the inside out . I saw the puffs of water vapor coming out when you hit the trigger on the nail gun .
  • @annaromero6312
I’m stumped upon your channel last week and was so impressed with what y’all were doing. It warms my heart to see a young couple like y’all making a difference to keep so much junk out of landfills. The knowledge y’all have and passing on to us viewers is so amazing. 🥰💕
  • Tip for removing posts. Screw some scab piece of wood about 6" above the ground then use a jack to lift the post out lifting on the scab piece of wood. Depending on your jack you might need to use a couple 2x4 onto each other.
  • Frame looks great! Just get a large sand filter, and shock the pool.
