I basically talk about three methods. The third is my recommended and also the most comprehensive method.

The first method talks about using a third party software called GPU-Z to identify the PCIe version of motherboard slot. This is great for laptops.

The second method talks about how to use physical inspection to identify the PCIe version on the motherboard.

The third and the most comprehensive method is a definitive guide on how to read the motherboard technical specsheet for PCIe slot. It also talks about how to identify the make and model of your motherboard so that you can look up its technical specsheet online.

    Please I want to ask you a question What is the difference between PCI Express X16 and PCI 4.0 and PCI 5.0????? Knowing that this graphics card slot occupies all PCI Express X16 graphics cards and this is the most powerful input from my side 👍👍👍

    Downloading GA-970A-D3P (rev. 2.x) Manual worked for me. All PCIE Slots 2.0 (2007 tech), bought this in 2014...can't believe it wasn't at least 3.0 (2010 tech). Now I know to be more careful shopping for motherboards.

    My GTX 1070 reports that it supports PCIe 2.0. x16 but it's running on PCIe 1.1 x16. is there significant impact on performance from this? I can accept if it's only about 4-8 fps

    This video is incorrect .... Pci e 2.0 can have 3.0 or 4.0 ...it is crosscompatible it just not will be to its fullest potential. I have an i7 990 intell chip alot of ram 8 tb hardrive and the nvidia geforce 3060 13 gb three fans. Their can be issues which are minor slight bottlenecks which is 2.4 which is not a factor their are adapters and gaming monitors which also help eleviate the work from the cpu. And ssd adapters to get those faster ways. I dont see upgrading my board and cpu till in 3 more yrs. The leap has not been that dramatic and the price is too uo with recession.
