"is this the mint killer" - no it tried to be mint and died trying, twice, on camera. shows how much effort mint puts into making it all work seamlessly.
  • @Hinipe
Cinnamon DE looks great, but unsurprisingly, works better on Mint than any other distro.

Installer always crash when polish language is selected - server py errors. Appcenter is unable to update system - snapd errors😂😂 Great release. Tested on real hardware like always

I switched to LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition) last year. Quite happy with it. I'll keep using it as long as I can.

Well this is interesting. Was thinking on wake up why I value our Linux Mint daily drivers, and was shocked to find we've been using Mint since 2016. In that time we've had stability, dependability and usability thanks to the Cinnamon desktop. As good as Ubuntu is, I do think we'll stay with Mint.

I am glad you found these issues. There is still some work to be done on the Ubuntu cinnamon edition. Hopefully, they will make a stable version available in a few months. 👍🏼

Even after the bugs have been worked out I'll be sticking with Mint. Mint has many years experience at being Mint and has been polished to the point of being diamond-like.

Thanks for showing everyone the glorious Cinnamon DE 😂 Now that this is out of the way, Mate and XFCE are here waiting to catch you 😊

The theme and wallpaper look pretty nice.

Rhythmbox and a number of other Gnome4 programs now apparently require OpenGL. If 3D acceleration and OpenGL is activated for the VM they should no longer crash the system. Recently observed the same when trying Ubuntu Mate 24.04 in a VM.

No, it is not the Linux Mint killer. Linux Mint is the Ubuntu killer.

It looks nice. If this had existed back in the day then I might still be with Ubuntu. But I've made my home in Mint now. I like where I'm at and I'm not going anywhere.

A bit sad, but oh well, I'm sure the devs are trying their best!
  • @d1namis
@DistroTube Hey, DT, does Ubuntu in minimal package just install full package and then uninstall everything that is not required?
  • @d3stinYwOw
It's about OpenGL acceleration needed since GTK4, those crashes started from 9:02 :)
  • @hanro50
The thing is, mint isn't just a desktop. It has an array of system applications and wrappers that are simply better than the Ubuntu equivalent if Ubuntu even has an equivalent.

I have the problem (process:9917):libsoup-ERROR **: 22:12:25.668: libsoup2 symbols detected. Using libsoup2 and libsoup3 in the same process is not supported. Trace/breakpoint trap(core dumped) This occurs when I write "gnome-control-center" to terminal. I can't open settings, I can't connect to my Ethernet. Cannot use WI-FI. I'm hopeless, please someone help me. I've tried to remove libsoup3.0-0 and libsoup3.0-common, but that didn't help me. Appreciate any help.
