About Spectre Sound Studios:
I'm Glenn Fricker, engineer here at Spectre Sound Studios. I love making records, and after doing it for sixteen years, I want to pass on what I've learned. On my channel you can find tutorials on how to record guitar, bass, real drums and vocals. There's reviews and demos of tube amps, amp sims, drums, mics, preamps, outboard gear, Electric Guitar, Bass Guitar, and plugin effects.
We've covered Moon on the Water, played Bias FX, given you the absolute best in Stupid Musician Texts, ranted & raved about bass guitar, and this channel is where The Eagle has Landed.
Everything you've wanted to learn about recording Hard Rock & Heavy Metal can be found right here on this channel!

I also respond to your comments & questions: The best make it into the SMG Viewer's Comments series of videos. Loads of fun, lots of laughs.

Thanks for checking out my channel & please subscribe!

From the photo you would get the impression that Glenn was being sarcastic ...completely opposite of what I was expecting

Day 2 of asking what happened to the discord lmao

Glenn - Tell them to stop using national stock numbers as names for their mics.
  • Dude you had me sold…right up until the end. Price unfortunately will be an object. Great review though, definitely something to think about I think.

You have no idea how much I wish I had 3500 bucks for this. Unfortunately, most of us bedroom creators probably don't. I will just have to stick to buying kits and building my own.

Lewitt showed in their own video that the normal pop filter they provide is too close to the microphone to be as efficient as it can be. I wonder if they'll make a new version of that old pop filter that fits their current microphones, but has more distance (or just another layer farther out like this new one has).
  • I had a chance to work with that Lewitt mic about two weeks ago. The studio we were at called Seeflection Studios has a lot of different mic's. I believe they said they have about 150 when we were going through the tour before choosing them. We listened to the Neumann 149 and that 1040. For violin and vocals there really was no comparison. Very different microphones. The violin had much more life and was amazingly clear sounding with its tone on that Neumann. The vocals sounded more "open" and like unmuffled especially when Teresa pushed hard. We did blind ABC, ABCDE, etc for each person and instrument and we never wound up choosing the 1040. Probably because their studio had a lot of amazing mic's. I can certainly see great uses for the 1040. Especially if the studio has a somewhat more limited budget than the one we chose.

SE Electronics also make the Z5600a II which is a multi pattern, somewhat affordable, tube condenser microphone. Maybe you should check it out?

If Glynda starts trashing Martins I'm going to burn this channel down

This mic is for professionals or mommas boys with a deep bank balance, for us mortals who have jobs and have to pay bills would you recommend the Lewit 240 pro for guys on a budget, I currently have a couple of thomann sm57 rip offs tbones and would like to get a condenser mic, don't get me wrong if I ever come into a wad of money I'd buy this but way out of my league sadly
  • @lycosa2000
Shure SM7B… because that’s what I can afford. SM57 is my guitar mic…because that’s what I can afford. Love your content Glenn, but I think most of us are rag-tag home studio musicians who don’t mind throwing part of our paycheck away on gear, but throwing down that kind of money down in Guitar Center… that mic better come with 6+ strings and an attitude. 😂
