  • I have been practicing Optometry for 39 years. 2 1/2 years ago, after being diagnosed as a Type 2 Diabetic with an HbA1c of 9.9, I drastically changed my diet, using Intermittent Fasting and Keto and brought my HbA1c down to 4.9 WITHOUT MEDICATION. I also came off ALL medications, 2 for hypertension and a statin. I was able to give up my CPAP for sleep apnea. This is a great video, Dr Berry!

I am not sure why, but one year after going ketogenic in my diet, my prescription glasses no longer worked. When I went to my eye doctor for an exam she proclaimed, Mark, your vision has improved to better than 20/20! She then asked, are you on one of these low carb diets? I, of course, proclaimed that I've been keto for a year now. She looked puzzled and said "You are like my 6th patient who has done this on a low carb diet."
  • I am 65 yrs old and started using Castor oil on my eye brows and lids twice a day about 8 months ago. I went to my eye doc for my exam about 2 weeks ago. My cateracts are better, my retina is completely healed and my dry eye is cured (I havent used drops since about 4 weeks after I started using the Castor oil). I was not expecting this and my doc asked me what I was doing. So happy!

My wife at 68 was getting cataracts. The optometrist said her cataracts were at 40%. I researched on line and came across using castor oil drops. She started using 1 drop/day in each eye and they cleared up in maybe a week. It also fixed her dry eyes. She has added NAC drops and MSM/vitamin C drops. It has been 3 or 4 years and her eyes are still clear. No more halos around lights. We have never smoked or drunk alcohol but eat a lot of carbs. We have just started carnivore eating to lose weight. Overall we are quite healthy and take no pharma drugs. We do take vitamins and supplements.

Top 6 tips: 1. Stop smoking - it oxidizes every cell on your body, especially eyes 2. Avoid cortical steroids 3. Eliminate sugar from diet 4. Eliminate grains and starchy veggies 5. Eliminate vegetable oils from diet 6. Avoid too much alcohol Making these changes can stop progression and possibly improve existing cataracts.

I was told by my ophthalmologist that the cloudy condition in my eyes was an inevitable result of cataract surgery. I started taking Emergen-C 1,000 mg vitamin C twice a day to boost my immune system during the Covid-19 pandemic. To my surprise, the cloudiness disappeared. I am able to read most print without glasses. I'm 74 and have been eating Keto and do intermittent fasting for about three years. I am thankful for good health.

PhD biochemist here, now retired age 82: In 1995, I was told I had developing cataracts, and would have to have lens replacements after a few more years. So I dived into the scientific literature and learned that a Russian scientist had found that n-acetyl carnosine (NAC) could reverse cataracts. He patented some eye drops which he called Can-C, and sold them for an incredibly high price. They weren't available in the US, since not approved by the FDA. So I bought a bulk supply of powdered NAC and made a solution of 0.2g/100 ml saline (stronger than that burns my eyes). A year after my initial diagnosis, my optometrist said he saw no more trace of cataracts. I've been using my home-made drops for 30 years, and still no cataracts. BTW, most of my peer group have long ago had cataract surgery.
  • I had really good news at the eye doctor recently. He said when they tested me for glaucoma in 2017, I had the early stages of it. He said it was markedly better in 2018, and remains that way. He said that does not happen. When you have it, it worsens. I started eating Keto in June 2017. I asked him if that could’ve made a difference. He said well, maybe. But he didn’t know. I came home and looked it up. And yes it can help! I’m going to send him the article about it. 😊 God is good!

And yet another reason to stop eating sugar and anything that turns into sugar! Thanks Doc! Much appreciated.
  • Can confirm this. My father was a farmer and worked outside every day for his entire life without a hat or sunglasses and had no eyesight problems.
  • @cherianpv
I have been working as a practising Ophthalmologist since 1985 in various parts of India. Thanks for this great video. At the age 71, still I am working as a consultant with good eye vision by the merciful grace of our God.
  • I went to U of Michigan Kellogg Eye Clinic today. I was told I'd eventually require cataract surgery, as I've had a slight decrease in my vision. My Dr. scoffed at the idea that my low carb diet could reverse cataracts. I go back in 6 months and hope to prove him wrong!! Lost 80 lbs so far, and my eye pressures are down markedly!!
  • @realtorjengle
My mom reversed her cataracts by doing exactly the things described in this video. She will tell you, she does not miss any of the foods that were making her sick! There is no substitute for feeling good through improving your health. Thank you, Dr. Berry, for sharing this! I hope it helps many other people and their loved ones. God bless!
  • @rebeccaw68
Sorry but I don't get why people are posting how wonderful surgery is for cataracts when this video is plainly showing how to prevent or even reverse them!!! Of course you can get surgery and see vast improvement esp when they are changing out the lense. POINT IS I do not want surgery! There can always be complications, there is a cost involved, and most importantly, there are underlying conditions that are causing the cataracts that is affecting the entire body. Maybe all of you who talk about surgery should comment on the ophthalmologists videos who tell you, like mine did, there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. They will love your surgery testimonials. As for many that come to this channel, treating the entire body instead of solely depending on conventional medicine or surgery is the first step we want to take.
  • I was told in my late 30's that because I was near sided that I would end up with cataracts in my later years. The doctor told me there was nothing I could do to prevent it. Now I am 73 and was told a few months ago that I have cataracts. He said I would know when to have surgery as I would slowly not be able to see well. I will try what you have shared. I do have pre diabetes (I do not take meds!) and I take a high blood pressure pill which I have cut in half. I do not drink alcohol or soda's. I am a baker and trying to back off eating the goodies I bake. I do intermittent fasting 6 days a week. And try to eat well. I have lost weight slowly. I will do my best.

I've been doing the Keto thing for nine days now. No sugar, grains, or carbs. The improvements I have felt are amazing. I've had issues with my right eye for almost two years and I am seeing an improvement. Thanks for all you do! You are helping thousands of people.
  • Just had an eye exam and was told I have cataracts. I was also told, nothing can be done to reverse it other than surgery. I discovered 6 years ago my main DR of health lied to me about reversing type 2 diabetes. I fired him and got off of 12 prescriptions. I changed what I eat, added many supplements to reverse my type 2. So, I figure this Dr is ignorant as to reversing cataracts. But it surprises me how a Dr will not give any hope whatsoever and offer only 1 solution like surgery or some drug. It's all about the money and not about a healthy alternative.
  • I started Keto March 1, 2020, I had cataract surgery scheduled a couple weeks later. I canceled my surgery because of pandemic. I rescheduled the doctors appointment to set up surgery June 2022. No need for surgery, I don't have a cataract. It's gone!!! One of the many benifits of my proper human diet❤❤❤
  • @randibass7558
Recently, I had an opthamologist give me a complete eye exam. He afterwards announced a cataract in one eye was forming. Then dismissed me. A machine could have given me the same diagnosis. Point being: thank you for really helpful information and direction!
