This Film Courage video is a culmination of dozens of interviews we have done over the past 5+ years with Hollywood actors. It covers the craft, strategy, mindset, business principles, and the ups and downs that all actors face. It's filled with clues to their success.

This video features Aaron Eckhart, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Katey Sagal, James Franco, Kevin Bacon, Michelle Monaghan, Aaron Paul, Richard Gere, Ethan Hawke, Cynthia Nixon, Miles Teller, Tobey Maguire, Jim Gaffigan, Mandy Moore, LaKeith Stanfield, Clive Owen, Alexander Skarsgård, Omari Hardwick and a whole lot more.

We've made this video for actors but we can see it benefiting all creatives. It was fun for us to put together and we hope you get a lot out of it.

It's broken down into 3 Chapters.

00:05 - Mindset
52:30 - Craft
1:37:18 - Stories

Stuff we use:
CAMERA - This is the camera we have used to film 90+% of our interviews (over 200 interviews and counting) It continues to be our workhorse - amzn.to/2u66V1J

LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq

AUDIO

Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/2t1n2hx

Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2tbFlM9

LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv

COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2t1M67Z

EDITING - We upgraded our editing suite this year and we’re glad we did! This has improved our workflow and the quality of our work. Having new software also helps when we have a problem, it’s easy to search and find a solution - goo.gl/56LnpM

It’s not a coincidence that you are watching this video. You’re on your way to something great.

" I'd rather get rejected than miss the audition." I feel that so heavy 😭

I've always had a strong passion for acting/entertainment ever since I was younger I dreamt of being in the industry I'm gonna keep praying and working towards my goals no matter what

I've been acting and going to classes and auditions, doing plays ets for about 4 and half years now... I still haven't gotten a break but that's ok , I do it for the love for the craft and building characters.. I'll always be an actor even if theres no industry..you gotta just keep at it. All else is secondary.

''Champions aren't made in the ring, they are merely recognized there. You can map out a fight plan or a life plan, but when the action starts, it may not go the way you planned, and you're down to your reflexes, training your preparation, perseverance. That's where your roadwork shows. If you cheated on that in the dark of the morning, well, you're going to get found out now, under the bright lights.'' - Joe Frazier -

  • Despite the negative comments that may come, I hope people focus on the words of inspiration that come from people who have achieved their dreams. Call it whatever you want, but for the people who need to hear this Believe in yourself. You are your biggest advocate.
  • I wish I saw these types of videos at 15 when I was first thinking about acting.

I have been wanting to be a actress and model from a teenager. I am 62 I have worked for 32 years as a computer analyst. I love the idea of living someone else’s experience and being able to feel the difference Of who I really a.m. and who I can portray. I don’t want to leave this earth without knowing my full potential’s. Don’t know how I set all on this video and watch the full two hours. So inspiring

One of my friends has been in Hollywood pursuing acting since his early 20s; Today, he is in his 30s, living out of his van, and working for a company that builds retail spaces shelving and countertops. Hollywood, it's a tough business to break into if one doesn't make the right connections and being at the right place at the right time. Very entrepreneurial-type business.

Bill Duke 3:00 I’m coming back to this every time I get discouraged. This was my fav part of the whole video
  • Next year I will be 30. This year I realized that my life as it is, is incomplete. I never realized that my dreams- the ones I had from the very young age were still unfulfilled. I always loved to work with people, loved to make people smile and laugh. Regardless how many times I got disappointed or thrown down, I got back up. I survived, I am still here. I want to do this. I want to become an actor. I want to be great and remembered. I want to make people smile, cry and feel joy. Prepare yourself USA. I'm going to be a top actor and nothing will stop me.

"Let me tell you something you already know the world ain't all sunshine and rainbows It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently If you let it you, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life but it ain't about how hard you hit It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward how much you can take and keep moving forward that's how winning is done." - Rocky Balboa -

It’s nice to hear these stories... as an actor currently going through it.. I’ve haven’t booked in 2 years.. have had rejection after rejection...but I keep going, keep training, continue moving forward even when it’s tough...I know one day it will be worth it.
  • Getting injured during a stunt scene on Blue Bloods back in 2016 has really stunted the momentum that I was in. It resulted in Traumatic brain injury which sucks because my memorization skills have severely declined. I know that we are our own worst enemy but I am determined to get back to set SOON. I will not become complacent. I am grateful for this compilation of golden nuggets from fellow actors who never gave up. My hope is to see some of you reading this on a set and work work work. Who’s with me? Never ever give 🆙

I’m starting acting class next semester and I’m in love with acting I love being on camera. When I’m on camera I can be me, I can show the world who I am. I’m not shy because I love it. But I’m so insecure that people are gonna hate me.
