It's 1988, All-Star Saturday in Chicago. Bird had won the first two three-point contests and is looking for the three-peat. Again, again, again... for the third consecutive time Larry Bird won the three-point contest, this time with his finger he said "I'm the number one".

Declaring his win even before the shot went in. Damn.
  • @sas2300
The fact that he walked off with his hand up whilst the last ball was still in the air says it all, he was defintely trolling the guy 😆
  • Growing up in LA in the 80’s I hated the Celtics but you can’t help but absolutely love Bird’s entire package as a player. Dude is a f#+king LEGEND

I felt like he was trolling to make it more exciting
  • legend has it, he walked in to the locker room before the shootout and asked the other players, "so who came here to win second place? " then he went out there and he didn't even take his warm up jacket off to win his 3rd title in a row. ,

I watched this live. The NBA will never be anywhere near as great as this again.

Bird had a perfect record (6-0) against Jordan in the playoffs, and went 17-11 in the regular season.

It feels like they were much more serious about this back in the day than now
  • @Coup0705
I almost swear he did it on purpose missing those shots especially the last rack.
  • If you notice bird’s form when he shoots is one of a kind. His hand is sort of behind his head at the beginning of his shot. I’ve never in my life seen anyone with this technique. Almost as if he cups the ball in his hand and creates a huge arc. Literally the smoothest release I have ever seen in the history of basketball.
  • "Who’s coming in second?" Bird said that before this contest
  • @voltron736
Bird in his warm up jacket. "I don't give a fuck"
  • @katra777
Damn Bird's release is way behind his head.
  • I think he’s the most influential player ever. Curry, Reggie Miller, Ray Allen, Mark Price, Klay Thompson all wouldn’t have that play style if it wasn’t for bird. A legend.

Man Larry was the money man in the clutch! What a player. I was so happy watching this player growing up!
  • Larry won a 3 point contest with a jacket on and Lebron complains about not being able to shoot because of the sleeves on his jersey.

Larry is the biggest badass NBA has seen. In a good way of course. That guy did everything, just watching him play was pure magic.
  • @billace90
He was and will always be, the best.

As a kid Bird became of my favorite players and he never left that spot. Definitely one of the most elite greats that is just still so underrated today. Anyone who watched him play though knows a different story.
