Today, while cutting up a very ancient oak stump, we were shocked by what we found in it.

A few years myself and my wife were saw up a large oak trunk for firewood. While cutting a slice I noticed fibers coming out with the chips. Putting it through the splitter we came across a silk handkerchief in lovely condition. Counting the rings it had been there since the 1830s so we'd like to think a lady placed it there maybe for a loved one to find but was never found. I still have the log and silk handkerchief trapped in the wood sitting on a shelf in my workshop

I have to say I watched this video from start to finish. I didn't find anything so shocking about what they found, nor surprising. But I'm going to say I did find the skill, patience, determination, and hard work absolutely outstanding. Not to forget the person filming. So steady and clear. I can just imagine the beautiful table tops that will come from that beautiful old stump and the excellent work that these men did. Thanks for sharing.

My Uncle was cutting up a massive Cotton Wood tree that was on an older bank of the Arkansas river near Las Animas Colorado. He had found id say up to a hundred spear tips, arrow heads , stone axes and pieces of iron, lead and brass. The area was going under an archeological dig and the tree had fell on the site. He hooked up a lumber mill saw to a belt driven PTO on his tractor and was cutting one of the trees trunks through it. After one slab was cut he noticed some staining in the wood. He took out a gouge and chissles and found dozens of huge lead balls, and a bit later some arrow heads. The archeoligist determind that as early as the early 1700's the most likely source of the earliest lead balls. The log was on display in a Museum in La Junta Colorado back in the late 1960's i believe

I keep looking at those huge slices and keep thinking to myself, "those would make for some very lovely tables" Does anyone else agree?

I never realized just how hard one must work to cut into a tree or trees of this size. Nice work, Gents! Total bummer that both large rocks and metal, caused such big issues. Still doesn’t take away from your patience and determination, great video! I hope some beautiful furniture is made from this beautiful tree!

I always remember our neighbor boys finding a tree in the woods we all played on toppled over from a big wind we had. A metal box was tucked into the roots and came popping up too. They ran the box over to our house so we could see the box and what ended up to be money inside. They hid the box somewhere in a big barn near us so their Dad wouldn't find it. One day we got both our little yamaha's fired up with 3 kids each bike...going to the store to get ice cream. They took a few coins to pay. Our yamaha's could only go so far so we ran the rest of the way. By the time we got home the boys Mom was at our house. The store had called because the coins were worth more money than six ice cream cones. The Mom paid for the ice cream cones and took the old coins home.  We kids in the mean time swore to not tell anyone else about the box. We all moved to different states and through a phone call my brother found out we all left that box in that barn LOL

Such stunningly beautiful wood!! God is Great to give us such gorgeous building materials! I must say the gentleman running and maintaining the saws is worth at least triple his weight in gold. His knowledge, skills, hard work, and determination are phenomenal! All these men are truly hard working, amazing men!! Real men doing real work is a joy to see!! ❤️🙏
  • My dad worked as a lumberjack and he would take us with him to cut down trees I can still remember the smell of the wood as he cut into them. That was 75 years ago I love the smell of wood. So many good memories. RIP Dad ❤
  • Tears😢for the tree it was. Respect to the men for their tenacity.
  • I don’t see anything shocking except the beauty in these pieces. I’m sure each piece will make a gorgeous tabletop
  • You really like nice wood and appreciate it when you’re happy to sit here and watch 48 minutes of folks cutting up a big old stump. I enjoyed watching it and i wish i had a big enough piece to build a nice les paul style guitar out of it. That would be such an amazing instrument!

Once upon a time, I had to shorten a large spruce stump. First cut with chainsaw, ruined chain. The only way I could take 10 inches off was with axe, splitting maul and metal wedges. This was very near the beach in Oregon . This tree grew up with round beach rocks inside it like raisins in a cake.
  • @AlpacaRenee
Fabulous work you do. Thanks for sharing it. I would love to have seen the tree that stump was from! What an amazing history it had. Clearly older than our country. Amazing.

Столько труда вложено!!!!! А потом мы еще жалуемся, что изделия из такого дерева дорогие: так сами попробуйте!😂 Молодцы!!!❤

It's so tragic to see such a magnificent old tree cut down.
