WE Charity told a parliamentary committee it had built 360 primary schoolhouses in Kenya with donors’ money, so we went there to see first-hand if the number of schools funded matched the number of schools actually built.

As a Kenyan, it is so disheartening to learn that some people can exploit the poor and weak for their own greed. Thankfully, everything done in darkness eventually comes to light.
  • As a kenyan, we appreciate the fact that there are people from a different corner of the earth that are willing to help us out of the kindness of their heart, but it has to stop. The truth is that our government is completely capable of taking care of its citizens, although they choose not to. Why? Because of corrupt people in power. And what these donations do is motivate these morally deficient people to vie for top positions. This goes out to the lenders as well. Stop lending us money. It all gets embezzled and who do you think pays for them later? Us the citizens. And we’re already seeing evidence of this through excessive taxation in the recent years.

The collusion between government officials and WE Charity is just appalling and sickening.
  • Scamming money from the generosity of unsuspecting children, and parents whose children have passed is truly despicable! I love when light is shined into the darkness! ✝️🙏

Those brothers were waaaaay too excited when selling their scam. Never trust a person that is over enthusiastic about anything!
  • They thought Kenya is so remote and backward that nobody would ever find out what they are doing. Shock on them.

Any charity whose fundraising events come across like megachurch services is automatically suspect in my opinion. Why are the brothers not doing time for their fraud?

I had a similar issue with Plan Canada... I've been to Kenya twice and made it a point to visit my foster child ie via Plan Kenya.... long story short the money I was sending seemed to be funding the Administration and not the family...

Wow! Actual boots-on-the-ground journalism. Well done, Fifth Estate.

These two brothers are like the many televangelists that fleece their flocks. Just a different audience used to pull heartstrings.

I went to Kenya in 07' and 08' with Father Samson Gitau. We traveled to his home village of Matharite to help build a high school. All funds were raised in the USA and went directly to the school. Father Gitau has a great love of his home village and has given back tremendously.
  • My high school like most Canadian schools had a tight relationship with Free the children. We went to their office in Toronto twice and our school was located in Ottawa. We went to WE Days. Their reps would attend our assemblies. It was always about money, not about doing good. It was a status and popularity thing to donate to them, go on trips to Kenya to "build schools" aka dig in the dirt and buy their accessories that were apparently made by women in Africa to give them a job 🙃 not donating was social suicide. during a visit to the headquarters in Toronto I was kicked out for bringing a copy of their prior year's spending available by searching their charity # and asking why so little actually went to programming and >50% to promotional materials. I'm just glad they won't be able to scan another generation of kids out of their allowances and birthday money.

Great job guys! Haven't been a political person until these lockdowns, never thought corruption was a thing in our country. Keep fighting the good fight.

Congratulations Mr. Mark Kelley for your courage and outstanding journalism. 👏 👏 👏 I do hope people involved in all this corruption have been charged and convicted.
  • @maureenwm
That governor's behavior highly suggests that he got kickbacks from WE.
  • As a Kenyan construction manager, it is so sad to see this happening. It costs less than a USD7000 to build a single class and the amounts raised in this scheme, should have built a lot of schools considering our environment and availability of the materials. Thanks for exposing this. Any donor to Africa should always do their research before giving.
  • @cutthebullshi
This video should get millions of views. We have to keep exposing these government scams.
