One Piece is arguably the most spoiler-prone anime out there, so most of the major plot moments got spoiled to me before I even made it to Enies Lobby. But omg, I did not expect the Strawhat separation on Sabaody to play out the way it did, I was left w/ goosebumps & was in shambles.

Yeah, Ace getting fisted from behind, while his brother was left on his knees, with his mouth wide open was a massive shock. At least in Demon Slayer their Ace at least stabbed the guy with his sword a few times before getting fisted.

we were actually prepared for Ace's death even if we didn't realize it. the way they prolonged (in a good way) his rescue meant they were gearing us up for something, especially with so many influential crews, captains and marines all gathered there, so when the ball dropped, even though it was sad and monumental, we already knew something major was gonna happen beforehand. we were still surprised of what that something was, but we were subconsciously prepared for heartbreak.
