Mini Sketchbook Tour! ✈️ How I Use My Travel Sketchbook

Published 2022-06-04
From the beginning of 2021 to May 2022, I've been painting and sketching in a mini Hahnemuhle watercolour sketchbook. I've used this little book to experiment with different styles, build my watercolour and sketching skills, and to document some of the places I've traveled to or seen in the past year. This week, I wanted to film a detailed tour it - from some of my worst paintings to my favourite painting, here's what's in my travel sketchbook - hope you enjoy!

  • Let me know if you had a favourite painting in this sketchbook - it would be interesting to find out! 😁

Thank you for showing your hits in this book. I appreciate seeing the pieces you are not as proud of. It helps normalize the process as we all grow.
  • Beautiful drawings :) There's something really charming about the polar bear one ❤
  • I really enjoyed the architectural sketches. And I totally love your style of leaving the first page blank. There is so much pressure around it. Why do we do that to ourselves? :)

Ahhh this so pretty! and oh my gosh the Folklore page!!!! I love the kookaburra. I love it all. Sorry. Total fan-girl :D

Some great sketches. I like the style that you are developing. I agree with you about the Sandy bay ? multiple houses sketch. I can easily see it being a part of a travel magazine. My favourite is the one that's your favourite too, the Jetty.

Love the colored tree ! and the houses too. Watercolors make everything look better too i think. I should try that on my bad sketching haha. I also love to see an actual sketchbook, not a ''perfect ultra skilled pro artists show off book thing' :p I have 2 or 3 emtpy ones, i can't really draw, and if i try, i use just a piece of paper to not ruin my sketchbook haha. But you show the real purpose of a sketchbook imo. Experiment, have fun, have 'bad' but also excellent drawings in it... Thx for that ! I feel the urge to draw everyday , but never really do. (started and stopped a loooot of times over the last 20y , but always gave up due lack of time, or some other excuses) thx for motivating me again.

Hello! I don't know if you'll see this but if you do, what kind of sketchbook are you using here? Thank you. :)
