I can relate to the guilt over getting rid of things that you spent money on and do not wear but my personal experience is that the guilt over decluttering it is a one time feeling vs. the ongoing guilt of seeing it hanging in your closet and knowing that you haven’t worn it and aren’t going to wear it. So, it’s a one-time guilt vs. on-going guilt. Experience the one-time guilt and move on. You will never think about those items again and won’t have to see them in your closet making you feel bad over and over!!

Thanks to my friend Lisa for sharing her home, closet and life! Thanks to you all for keeping the comments kind, fun and respectful. It's why my friends keep coming back for more!! ❤🥳

Clutterbug has a great rule about removing "bullies" from your wardrobe, clothes that make you look bad, wrong size, you spent loads of money on and regret etc. Getting rid means they cant make you feel bad anymore!
  • I decluttered in December 2023. It took me 3 days and a lot of tears to say goodbye. The emotional attachment I had to the clothes, shoes and bags was crazy. There is a sad story behind every item, why I bought it and why I never wore it. As soon as I got rid of all the items my house felt so light and airy. Much love and blessings from the Netherlands 👋🏽
  • I am halfway through his video and I’ve shouted “NO!” at least 10 times 😂. Just donate the clothes you’re unsure about, you clearly don’t like them! 🤣🤦🏽‍♀️🤣

It might work really well for Lisa to challenge herself to wear some of the fantasy clothes and see how she feels in them over the next weeks. Fun challenge and will be clear if she enjoys them or feels uncomfortable.

Carla’s ability to let someone make their own choices but supportively give an opinion when needed is impressive.
  • @Picalilli28
I totally relate to Lisa when she talks about buying clothes for other versions of her. I do it and the other me never turns up! 😂

How I got over the loss of $ thing… Whether you keep it or get rid of it, the $ is already gone. Whatever you decide, the $ is not coming back.
  • @LindsayOLeary
I love that you never buy a bajillionty organisational items (aka, "storage solutions") to do a declutter 💥
  • Her house just looks alot lighter and she looks alot less frazzled with this declutter love it
  • Hi I'm Lisa and I'm a former shopping addict myself and I'm decluttering too my clothes pile is probably twice as your Lisa lol but I’m giving away 10 trash bags filled.
  • Carla, your hairstyle looks absolutely gorgeous in this video!❤ Lisa's apartment is really nice and it was nice to see her again!❤ Cheers from Ontario Canada.

That was fun! Here’s a tip for your clients: we here in California have two seasons spring/summer and fall/winter. If you put your off season clothes away in storage boxes, they look new again when you get them out, because you haven’t seen them for six months! It’s been working for me.

19:14 I distinctly remember buying a flowy, brown, linen top from Banana Republic YEARS ago thinking, ‘this would be so perfect for a lazy, sunny Sunday, running errands with a coffee in hand, sunglasses, enjoying the day. It didn’t happen, I never wore it and decluttered it. I’m now quick to recognize and address that voice when it pops up. Hilarious…
  • @jen....
I didn't recognise Lisa's apartment at first - I thought she'd moved. It looks great.

BEST thing I’ve done is a “NO SPEND” month/year. It feels so good to just buy consumables - food, essentials etc. The landfills around the world are beyond horrific.
  • @DeepeningPrayer
So far this month, I've purchased ONE thing that isn't groceries (an income and expenses tracker for $7). I'm very happy and proud of myself! (yes, I know there are apps for this - but I'm a "paper and pen" kind of gal) In other words, for all of the times I "say" I'm going to do a "no buy' month - this month, I'm actually doing it!

Lisa was a great sport and did so well decluttering. Can't believe she hesitated over beige and black cardigans, she was swamped by them. Definitely keep little jacket from her mum as showed off her cute figure. Sometimes because of a label or price we paid we can become blind to whether they flatter our bodies and our true to our authentic selves. Well done girls you smashed it x
