I am a Twin Cessna fan and owned a beautiful 1956 310. I have always loved them all, especially the 421. The comment Rich made about being privileged to live in a time when we can fly these airplanes is so true and heartbreaking. They will never build anything like a 340 or a 421 again. Gone are the days of the 320 Skynight. I am an IA and could barely afford to maintain my 310. Not to mention finding parts. The "out of production" component of cost is reflected on the ramp. There are hundreds of twins sitting on flat tires at airports across the nation. They are really just ghost that trigger thoughts of restoration as you taxi by, so sad......Gorgeous 421, great video as always Rich!

This is probably one of the nicest 421c’s I’ve seen who ever did the avionics did it right, I mean they even put a second Garmin on the copilot side did away with all the analog engine instruments and put the Garmin unit and the best autopilot Garmin makes wow.

That Golden Eagle is a beauty. I always loved the sound of those geared engines. Thank you.

The colors and paint design on that aircraft are really spectacular. I have seen many an aircraft in my time, and this one is truly gorgeous.
  • Rich, one of the many things that I appreciate about you as a content creator is that once I see a "Fly with Rich" video notification, my finger is already poised to tap the 👍 icon. You're an inspiration to this rusty pilot (you have so many type-ratings!), and I always look forward to your next video. I like your no- bull, just straight talk approach to your content. Your historical knowledge of the particular aircraft that you're showcasing is nothing short of impressive. Thank you for your content!

One of my first jobs 20 years ago was as a ramp rat. The airport I worked had 2 421s. Part of the apprentice path meant one of my jobs was to compare the log entries to the receipts mailed back when those 421s were away, bring any discrepancies to the attention of the AME. Neither of those planes took a trip without needing service in the field. It got to the point where when I'd tow either out of the hangar, I'd just wait by the fuel pump. Because they were ALWAYS going to need the AME to get it going, or nitrogen to fill the strut, or the tire, a bottle of oil, or to to call the guy to unfuck the door seal, after they get gas, which they always needed. That one looks really nice, I'm sure it won't be like that for the new owner. (This entire video, and the time it took to type this comment is less than the time it took to get one of those 421s started on the best day,)
