The Finance Minister has tabled the Union Budget for 2024-25 today, and a slew of changes have been announced. Under the New Tax Regime, tax slabs have been revised and the government has also hiked the limits of standard deductions to ₹75,000 from ₹50,000. Additionally, the government also raised both long-term (LTCG) and short-term capital gains (STCG) tax on financial instruments - LTCG tax has been hiked to 12.5% from the earlier 10% and STCG tax has seen an increase to 20% from 15%.
