I see a lot of good criticisms in the comments, but one main one you guys are missing is this: they totally messed up Jack. Jack isn't ACTUALLY a total idiot who just survives through sheer luck. He's a guy who does crazy things that seem like they never could work, but then do. He's a genius pretending to be an idiot, not an idiot pretending to be a genius.

worst part about this movie was jacks crew just betraying him and nobody seemingly caring about eachother after all this time, just for a laugh smh

It would have been kinda neat to see Salazar’s ship regenerate and become more complete with each ship sank and consumed.

The problem is that in part 2 its revealed that Jack acquired the compass from Tia Dalma by barter, so this contradicts previously existing Canon.

As much as I love the intro I’ve never understood why Will gets so concerned about the other crewmen knowing Henry is there. He’s the captain, I highly doubt any of the men would attack their captain’s son without an order from said captain.

I love tha fact that in first movie, Jack was saved by Will Turner at the end, and in this one he was saved by his son Henry, in the same situation.

Jack is not an idiot, this movie makes him out to be stupid but he was always a brilliant person, he took calculated risks which he measured against his own abilities. He made his opponents underestimate him.

That flashback scene is what destroyed this franchise as it practically negates the original trilogy .... Once Jack was employed by Cutler Beckett and Captain one of his ships called "The Wicked Wench".... Jack and Beckett had a falling out because Beckett got into slavery business, this disagreement resulted to the sinking of the Wicked Wench .. That is how Jack met Davy Jones, they struck a bargain and Jones raised the Wicked Wench back from the depths and let Jack be a Captain for 13 years, Jack renamed his ship to what we know as "The Blackpearl".. Also Tia Dalma aka Calypso is the one who gave Jack his compass ...

I hate the beginning, with the cursed Flying Dutchman and Will Turner, he shouldn't BE cursed and the Dutchman should look normal because the only way for them to be cursed is if Will abandons his duty as ferryman to the afterlife. Which I'm sure Will wouldn't have done. Not to mention Jack's crew so ready to abandon him, especially Gibbs!! Gibbs has been with Jack through thick and thin he wouldn't abandon him like that. Finally (minor point..) WHERE THE F*CK IN PINTEL AND RAGETTI?!?! Those two were awesome and I miss the homunculus and wooden-eyed weirdo... :(

Not gonna lie but Jack giving away the compass being the things that broke the curse was a plothole since he gave it away a few times before already
