Hi there! I'd like to offer some advice to help you improve your game: Game Engine Choice: Using Construct is a good starting point, but for a more authentic Game Boy experience, you might want to consider engines like Game Boy Studio, Unity, or Godot, which offer better compatibility and versatility. Color Palette: Keep in mind that the Game Boy has a 4-color palette, with one color used for transparency. Therefore, make sure your sprites stick to 3 colors to achieve a genuine Game Boy look. Enemy Variables: Using global variables for enemy health can be inefficient since all enemies end up with the same health. Instead, consider using local variables for each enemy to customize their attributes individually. Sound: Sound is a crucial aspect of any video game. Neglecting it can impact the overall gaming experience. I encourage you to explore adding sound effects and music to enhance player immersion. Keep working on your project and learning from your mistakes. Consistent practice will help you become an even better developer! Good luck and keep creating! Also the video editing it's amazing, new sub!

you're correct with the background having 4 colours. but, the sprites on the gameboy have only 3 colours (one is sacrificed for transparency). if you were making an actual gameboy game, you could select which colour that is.
  • The game boy homebrew scene is pretty active. Here's a challenge if you need a new video idea: Make a real game boy game out of it. 3 major options: GB Studio (easy, no code, limited), GBDK-2020 (more advanced, but more capabilities), and RGBDS (assembly, very difficult, but the most capable). GBDK is my preference. Each are free, and can compile real Game Boy ROM Files.

amazing video! but quick tip for your next game : Instead of using tiled backgrounds I suppose using tilemaps and autotile. Also dont use global Variables for monster health!!! Use local Variables.

I think the carrot kind of looks more like Pizza. The captain from Wall-E would be proud. Also, cool video, I really like the end product. 👌
  • @NoobieWars
I love your videos I got inspired by you and now I am going to learn!
  • @whymnca9716
Nice video, I have to say you that your pixel art was nice, can I ask how did you learn to draw them? Currently I am struggling in that aspect. Also regarding game engines can I recommend GB STUDIO for game boy games in the future, it is free and easy to learn and use and it is coded to use GB hardware. As for your future projects can I recommend GODOT, it is an open source game engine, it will be harder to learn compared to construct but you will not be limited with it. Also if you don't mind can I recommend to do a fighting game in the future. P.S. BTW GB only has 2 button

what do you mean you didn't finish it? the game is totally complete, all those people that thought the boss fight was unfinished just had skill issue
  • @YokieStillExists
this is underrated, someone should donate so u could continue your talent
  • @Spydr331
i kinda like the limitation on construct as a function of your video. it gives a natural stopping point
  • @PedroR.L
Will you allow me to make my version of your game? Not wanting to copy but just for the first time my Dev skills and get a basic idea of the game
  • @TrEeBLaZe
I'm honestly impressed You did all of this in under 50 events!
  • @otistically
I legit didn't knew Pixel Studio had a desktop version (I was so used to seeing the mobile app that I got shocked when this version actually existed)
  • @Brqv3
if the game is under 8 mb and can run with only 128 kb of ram then you could fit this on a real gameboy
  • @dymat7763
estaria bien que trabajaras mas en el juego y capaz sacar una version completa o algo asi para q se pueda jugar en gameboy original algun dia, de todas las versiones que he visto esta ha sido la mejor , suerte y ojala verla algun dia subida a internet !
