Narrated Max attempt freedive - 147m DNF (Dynamic No Fins) / 2:27min
Published 2023-11-24
For the last 6 months i have been preparing for my Guinness WR attempt by doing lots of CO2 training - short (25m distances) with short recoveries.
Could this pure CO2 training translate into a new long PB dive..?! (150m+)
I went into the dive with a sense of ADVENTURE. I chose to TRUST myself.
I wondered if I could recognise the subtle feelings of dropping O2 towards the end of the dive.
❗️Remember that I am a trained freediver. You should never attempt to do any underwater swimming on your own!❗️
Up until 125m, everything felt smooth, beautiful and powerful. Technically not perfect but I didn’t mind…at 125m turn, I started to feel a distant but familiar acquaintance, hypoxia, creeping in.
One more push, one more stroke, one more glide, come up and breathe! I got ya bit shaky (this is called LMC - partial loss of motor control)but I had everything under control. I recovered quickly and found myself in Joe’s embrace worried that I may have scared him. He’s never seen this before.!
Only then I realised how close I was to the wall. I didn’t mind. I did my best and that’s the best anyone can ever do..😇
