In Britain, which seems to have an insatiable appetite for wartime history, the sacrificed soldiers of World War II were resurrected by the Brexit campaign. The lead up to the EU referendum saw both sides appeal to the legacy of WWII to make their case. It seemed like political campaigners were prepared to speak on behalf of long-since-dead soldiers — so we went to meet with some living war veterans, all men in their 90s, to talk about the upcoming Brexit.

This report was very biased about taking a neutral position.

These men fought for the freedom of Britain, Europe and the world over. Regardless of where one stands on Brexit, I salute them.

Whoa! Vice did a piece that doesn't take one side or the other? What is this deviation?!?!
  • @Beastinvader
Why do so many people make this mistake?! They left the EU, NOT Europe. A damm big difference.

"We spent 6 years trying to keep the enemy out and now we've allowed them to walk in." As a German I find this adorable.
  • A balanced and insightful piece on a political issue from Vice? What is the meaning of this?
  • @jellojackets
Whats this? unbaised reporting? getting even number of both sides of the debate? is it really 2012? do i need to pinch myself?
  • Never mind Brexit all I want to say is Thank you gentlemen . Scotland sends its regards
  • So when I first saw the title of the video, I was concerned about how my opinion on this matter would bias me to like or dislike this video. This kind of neutral Journalism however left me with no choice but to like.
  • A fantastic piece from Vice. This is the kind of content that we want to see! What I find really interesting is that these veterans have just as wide ranging views as everyone else. People often lump them together as one interest group, but they are just people with different opinions just like the rest of us.

  • Ask a soldier a question and get an unequivocal answer: "What do you think about this, that, or something else?" "It's bollocks; absolute bollocks!"
