This week during our full time winter van life escapades we endure temperatures of -17 degrees C and get stuck in sub zero weather - honestly it was a tough one and freezing cold!
Winter camping and living in a van can be so much fun but also really difficult if you're living off grid and don't get that much needed solar power!

Our epic Scandinavian adventure is only just starting and we're already facing wintry conditions, skidding on roads of ice, deep snow and all in our 2 wheel drive motorhome which definitely prefers the sunshine to the snow! We show you driving in the snow is not really fun.

These winter wonderlands are extraordinary - the most magical scenes ever! We feel so lucky to be able to just drive here in our van and experience winter van life during Christmas time. So we make every minute count and stopped off in Salen in Sweden for some snowboarding!

🚍 Our bus stats:
2001 Mercedes Vario 814
4.2 Litre Diesel
Was 24 seats (now 2)
Air Suspension

A HUGE Happy New Year to everyone watching 🧡 Thanks so much for all of the support and love you've given us this year - we appreciate each and every one of you! Here's to some crazy travel adventures in 2023 (not just for us but hopefully you too!) Where are YOU heading this year? 😄

@Kinging- It Happy New Year! Guys, probably others already pointed this out, you need to put the chains on the traction wheels, rear wheels in Custard`s case. Also, to make it easier to center and tighten them properly, you need just move the wheel a tiny bit after putting them on. If all goes well, after a couple meters, you need to retighten, otherwise they can brake and cause some additional damage. Cat litter helps when it`s only a bit slippery, not so much in deep snow. Do not drive into snow where you risk bottoming out, it will be very hard to get out. And maybe look at some snowboarding gloves with wrist protection - real wrist savers! Enjoy the snow!

😮 any other winter drivers cringing at Craig & Aimee struggling with their van stuck in the snow? Rock it back and forth. Slow forward, quickly shift in to reverse & slow back. Repeat and speed it up, so you build momentum like a pendulum… then when you’ve got enough momentum… give’er! (🇨🇦 for hit the gas… hard!). And keep your wheels straight while you’re doing this. When you come to Canada, stop off at the winter driving course in Vaudreuil, Quebec with Claude Bourbonnais. It’s 4 hours of how to avoid getting stuck in the snow and how to drive on ice. Good luck out there 🥶❄️❄️🚐
  • Tips for parking in a snowy area. Pull in 2 or 3 times moving to one side a bit each time so that you will pack down the snow and have a tire track to step out into and not deep snow filling your shoes, and you won't have as much snow built up around the tires making it easier to clear out any additional snow if needed and will be able to turn your steering tires easier because there will not be a mound of snow to the sides keeping the Van from steering. Also always pull in further than where you plan to park for the day/night so that the snow isn't built up against the tires like a ramp to go over that you would have to shovel away and there is a track packed down that you can move forward and backwards in if you need some momentum to get going.
  • So sweet and genuine seeing how proud Aimee was of everyone coming down the mountain no matter what. She’s a beaut full of love.
  • I have two ski stories for you… When I was about 12 I went to Austria with my mum and Aunty. We went cross country skiing and somehow I lost all control and ended up shooting off the side of a really tall bank into a busy main road. I was literally crumpled up,legs and skis everywhere. My mum and Aunt saw me and lost all control, literally crying with laughter. They couldn’t compose themselves and I couldn’t unravel myself so some kind Austrian gentleman had to help me. I was literally beetroot red with embarrassment and furious at my mum and aunt wetting themselves leaving me to die on a random road in Austria 🙈😂😂😂. The second story was from an elderly gentleman my hubby used to work for. He was on holiday skiing and pretty fearless trying all the slopes. He was on a slope when he veered off course, sped at high speed through a woods. He couldn’t stop and was sure he was going to die. Eventually he shot through these trees and said it felt like he was 100ft in the air, he landed and sped passed all the spectators who were watching ski jumping and they all spontaneously stood up and cheered him, literally roaring with applause 😂😂.
  • Amiee. I am so proud of you! Coming from someone who has been snowboarding for 34 years who grew up in Colorado you did great! It is a very difficult sport. You kept at it! So amazing. Love you guys!
  • You will do great if you come to Canada, your attitudes when you were stuck was awesome!! That is how most of us deal with these situations in Canada, lots of fun and joking and by then usually someone comes along and helps you out. Seems like you already have some Canadian spirit in you! 😊 Happy New Year!🎉
  • I love all of your videos guys! I was laughing and smiling at you two on the slopes. I LOVE how Aimee is so naturally herself, enjoying the experience and not trying to act all posh!
  • @jgm254
I wish all these people watching your videos would all subscribe, this channel deserves more.. keep up guys..
  • Your Mrs cracks me up such a lovley personality great humour she's so funny top woman such a cool cupple love you both
  • @Kenta59
And the chains are supposed to be on the rearwheels only if the car is rearwheel drive
  • @TheConnord397
Just so you know for the future guys, the snowchains need to be on the back wheels primarily as the bus is rear wheel drive 👍😊
  • The chains go on the drive wheels 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 brilliant
  • @isnoo1
Oh my god............ You have me in fits again!! Happy New Year to the two of you and looking forward to 2023 adventures!!
  • When you get stuck Keep you steer wheels straight Rock back and forth and create a small path if possible for the tires as so you will be able to build up speed Resist spinning you wheels as you have a heavy duty differential rear end and excessive spinning in can cause massive damage to it Looking forward to seeing you in Canada again! Will that trip be solo as well or will other couples be joining you two?
  • Amy and Craig, I just the pair of you. I love your message, the way you put yourselves out there, and the way you live your lives. Just pure happiness and inspiration. Thank you for being you. Happy New Year ❤
  • @ue9r6
Bears sleep cold winters away , could see them in spring, but this time of year no need to worry. Safe travels🇨🇦
  • @jellybean4350
You guys need to come to Newfoundland Canada! And travel ALL over the province, not just the city portion, all the small rural areas! I think you’d love it, we have so much Irish/English based culture here!
