I feel like it’s been hard to get a gauge on Furukawa since he doesn’t do many public appearances, but MAN if “we make games better than a computer ever could” isn’t an ALL TIMER quote.
-
Honestly I'd be more surprised if Nintendo said yes to AI.
-
If there’s one group I’d like to see Nintendo’s lawyers get unleashed upon, it’s AI tech bros.
-
Investors LOVE the idea of AI, and that's who Furukawa is talking to here. So it's interesting how Furukawa is basically saying "No" to ai, but using language intended for an audience that probably WANTS Nintendo to pursue generative AI
-
when’s the sequel channel “notopicarlo” where arlo has no topic and doesn’t know what to talk about
-
A.I? More like… “ey, I’d rather not”
-
Makes sense that Nintendo is against AI for intellectual rights reasons when they're so into defending their own IPs. Inadvertently infringing on copyright using generative AI would make Nintendo look like hypocrites.
-
"You tell those shareholders. Getim"
-
AI wouldn't even make sense with Nintendo. Their games thrive on the handcrafted touch.
-
I really appreciate Nintendo and ghibli studio for standing against AI
-
Nintendo, if nothing else, is talented at ignoring the buzzwords and just making good games (most of the time). The AI buzzword is already tired and a terrible excuse for lack of innovation, so I'm glad to hear they dont have a major interest in it.
-
Nintendo games had AI being a villain in Pokemon, Metroid, (maybe Zelda botw if the ancient tech counts as AI) so this is pretty on brand
-
Imagine big corporations "saving money" by firing all of their employees, only to spend all of their money suing each other over IP theft 🤣
-
Nintendo knows they have human artists and they know they don’t need a computer to make all the art
-
LET THEM COOK

It helps that the executives for the most part understand the development process, that's why they're saying no. They know that the "promise" of the technology has nothing backing it up. A carpenter knows what tools to use, and so does a game developer.
-
This is the most ziplash gameplay I have ever seen in my life.
-
Generative AI really is mass plagiarism, I think the only reason it’s allowed to be used right now is because it’s hard to say who you’re plagiarizing, but that doesn’t mean it’s ok

rare Nintendo higher ups W

What an interesting game playing in the background. I sure hope nobody throws a bunch of copies of it down the toilet
