  • Spassky is such a classy guy. He accepted Fischer's ridiculous demands and when he lost to him he just applauded.
  • It is a shame that Boris Spassky is mostly remembered for losing this match. He was a tremendous chess player who could be beat an opponent using many different styles of play.
  • @MrBealvie
"how bobby fischer became world champion" by watching gothamchess videos 48 years in the future
  • Chess is an amazing game. After only 5 moves each, there are over 4 million possible hoodies GothamChess can choose to wear.
  • gotham has more hoodies than the amount of atoms in the universe
  • @Nat-rc1tn
Patiently waiting for the video "how Gotham chess became a gm"
  • IMO Spassky is why Bobby won the '72 WCT Probably no other player would have endured Bobby's intolerable behavior Don't get me wrong BF was the better player His achievements in chess are unparalleled But had Boris not given in to his demands The match would have never have been finished And I doubt Fisher would ever have played again. Lots of respect for Boris
  • Levy is a content machine! I hope he always gets enough sleep :-)
  • Levy’s videos have become a daily routine of mine.
  • I DID live through it! I was 21 in 1972 and it was as a result of the coverage that this match got that I got back into chess in a serious way, having learned the game when I was 12. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!!
  • Many thanks for this great video analysis of games. In my research of Bobby Fischer games, he seems to be one of the most accurate world chess champions ever, especially when factoring in the complexity of positions. Many thanks for doing this Bobby Fischer video. I am a great fan of Fischer the chess player - not the person though. I feel Fischer ought to have been given help at the right time and it was a shame for the chess world he didn't play Karpov and extend his reign a little longer potentially. Cheers, K
  • @lladi9829
Imagine if after Fischer asked to play backstage, Spassky just said no
  • @Domancave
Gotta give it to Boris. Without his drive to play chess and desire to play rather than win, we got this excellent world championship. Bobby whinnied, and ultimately was the better player. But Boris showed what a competitor he was
  • I was there ... following the games in the newspaper, that is, and playing them out with my cousins in Summer of 1972 - this is a very, very good video - I spent that summer in Cali, Colombia, and the whole world was, indeed, watching - it was everything people say it was !!
  • Levy can you please analyse the game of chess from Harry Potter and the philosopher‘s stone.
