Sometimes we have to do what is best for our children and not for ourselves.
  • Utterly heartbreaking for his family and friends. Wish I could wave a magic wand. This lad had so much to live for.

Very tragic but unfortunately the judge's decision is correct. If the brain tissue is dead, there is no chance at recovery.
  • Covid and ischaemic brain injuries are two different things. I imagine the doctors have explained ad nauseam to this family why time won't reverse his particular injury. They don't want it to be true, which is understandable.

Back in the 1960’s I had a friend called Kim Horne … a young lad who was knocked down by a car not far from where he lived in Manchester … he was in a coma for 3 years but never recovered and sadly he eventually died …. The medical technology back then was very basic … nothing like today … I think his parents kept hoping that he would eventually wake up … but sadly it wasn’t to be ….. I still think about Kim to this day and I think that maybe it’s best to let people in this situation slip away in peace …. especially if it’s a machine that keeping them alive …. Kim’s family must have had 3 years of tormented hell thinking about him everyday ….. hoping and praying that he’ll wake up from the coma …… RIP Kim …. We were only young kids but we had some fun times …… miss you mate ❤️
  • I feel like the parents either don't understand or don't want to understand the medical diagnosis. This is completely understandable, I think every parent would do everything they can for their child. But unfortunately he is brain dead, it's not the same as being in a coma, no-one has ever survivied or recovered from brain death. He is not on life support, he's on organ support. I think keeping him like this is partly the result of the parents denial of what happend. Once it's switched off they are going to have to deal with the circumstances that led the poor child to do this, which they keep saying was an online dare, though there appears to be zero evidence for this, as well as deailng with the fact that he is physically dead and has been for months. I understand the mothers pain but I think standing outside the hospital saying the NHS is executing her child is disrespectful to the medical staff who have been caring for him and she should be challenged on her language.
  • Ahayah we are praying for this precious soul, please heal his body, all glory to you Lord , we pray healing over his body and cover him in the blood of Yeshayah the Messiah of Nazareth. Thankyou Father you are so Good. Thankyou bless you Holy Holy Holy Father. Amen

Having watched the Louis Theroux documentary "Edge of Life", I definitely get why they want to have more time, for such a young boy. Wish them all the best.

From her story this doesn't sound like it was a challenge or an accident. So sad all around for everyone involved but many people are taking advantage of this woman instead of helping her come to terms with reality.
  • Stay strong and fight on, our thoughts and prayers are with you, God bless you and your family, our prayers are there for your beautiful boy 🙏🙏🙏

I am praying for this beatiful boy every day.🙏🙏🙏
  • Deception cues from the mother about circumstances just before and how she found Archie - If I had to hypothesise, it didn't quite happened as described (i.e., the rabbit story) and she is struggling with the idea that her son committed an act of fatal self harm as a consequence - hence the grasping at straws re online challenge (circumstances do not fit for this - i.e. there is no indication he filmed himself to post on social media later - which is part of it). This is clearly a mother that is struggling to come to terms with her part in this tragedy and desperately wants to believe that there is a possibility of a second chance/redemption if Archie wakes up. I feel for her.
  • There was a case in America where a man’s parents were told he was braindead and would never wake up. His parents argued with each other over whether to turn off life support. His mother wanted to and his Dad didn’t. His father became so desperate he eventually brought a gun to the hospital and stood at his sons bedside and said he would not leave until the hospital agreed to not take him off life support. There was a long stand off but during that time, possibly due to the stress in the room from everyone shouting and trying to get his Dad to put the gun down, the son started showing brain activity. To cut a long story short, the son is alive and well now. The parents divorced and the son, he’s an adult, lives with his Dad and is so grateful his Dad fought for him. There is always hope. People have come out of comas before. This family must not give up.
  • Who encouraged Archie to do this? Is it possible to press charges? Just wondering 🤔

I think the decision to withdraw life support is not relevant, other Dr.s have said they disagree with the decision of the court ruling, my nephew was hurt in a car accident, and went through the front window from in the back seat, his brain trauma was severe, and to stop more brain damage they removed the top of his skull to allow for the swelling to have room to expand, this decision, I believe is what helped my nephew recover. Many, many months later he awoke from his coma. he had barely any brain function when he arrived, and the decision was to discuss if they would continue life support. In the first few days after he was hurt, my sister struggled with the option, but refused to allow it, she said...just give him more time. and it was a big surprise, that days went by, and months, but his brain activity slowly returned. Sometimes for the brain to recover, it shuts down many functions, to keep the brain alive, and so the damage would heal, and not use as much energy, he awoke almost a year later, he could talk, remember our names, smile, but was blinded in one eye, and has partial paralysis on his right side, like his arms and legs, yet he learned to walk with a cane, he was in a wheelchair for about a year, and slowly his balance to stand and step improved. the adverse effects that he still has from brain damage is short term memory loss, and its improving. we all prayed, and I wrote this.. Sometimes when we pray, and it is truly from the heart, the prayer is answered, however, nature has to strike a balance, and the cost of it may be something sad, or upsetting, or some type of hurt in exchange, and from the ashes of that despair, against all odds, a miracle happens, and it sets the foundation, of something strong, and unbreakable, which in turn, grows into something beyond expectations. I believe in miracles, they happen everyday, life is a miracle, love is its gift, for without the earth, there is no sky, no sun, nor moon, or the wonder of the heaven above, or the feeling of another's love.. love endures, love persists, and when it is pure, time has no meaning, it ceases to exist. Don't give up hope, no matter how bleak it is. may every breath I take be a prayer, and every heart beat I have bring him strength and you. sending my prayers, from Canada. Shawn.O

What a heartbreaking story. I have no words to express myself in situations involving children. The hospitals shouldn't have power to remove life supporting equipment

As sad as it is to say they do need to move on even if he comes back he will not be the same rip man
