I did the exact same thing. Love it. Can get to wires, add what ever you want. I've added eye bolts to add climbing wall, hand holds, trx bands, hammocks and outdoor playground gear. On carabiners and move them around as needed. Add chase pipes for networking into other rooms, or up to the next floor. Then you have super easy access. Can lights can be added even with this type of ceiling too. Or use the wafer lights with no can.
  • Wow Andrew! Your talent, artistry and craftsmanship will pay off highly if you ever rent/sell this property. Your before/after views are the most dramatic and memorable. Everyone will want to do to their home what you have accomplished in yours. Thanks again for a great show.
  • I love the tiles, they needed them to look that good decades ago.

Thanks for the video Andrew! I've been following your videos for the last year while refinishing my basement. Currently installing the drop ceiling and your video provided some clarity.

When you do your boarder, divide your demanding space by 2 then add back half the materials dimension to get the largest piece. It looks nicer in the end
  • I have really enjoyed watching this 'series'! The basement is really coming together! The ceiling panels are just beautiful! From drab and deary to absolutely fabulous. Looking forward to the final reveal! Lol you've give us tidbits along the way but it's not the same.

I know finished ceilings look better but I’m so happy I went with drop ceiling. I’ve had 2 plumbing issues that resulted in me replaced 2 drop ceilings. That job would’ve been such a pain if it was sheet rock.

I did the same to my basement 15 years ago. I love the easy access to the subfloor. I can’t tell how many times I was in there running Ethernet, speaker cables, or repairing broken water pipes over the years - all would have required major ceiling repair if it had been drywall.
  • @ceh329
Definitely better than other drop ceilings but Drywall still looks better.
