The best way to continue your Wu Tang journey, if you choose to, would be to do all their next 5 solo albums. Which are GZA - ‘Liquid Swords’ Raekwon - ‘Only Built For Cuban Links’ Method Man - ‘Tical’ Ol Dirty Bastard - ‘Return To The 36 Chambers’ Ghostface Killa - ‘IronMan’ with it concluding with their second group LP ‘Wu Tang Forever’. All these albums were a part of RZA’s ‘5 year plan’, with all albums being released between 93-97, and yes all the albums produced by RZA

15:05 The 36 Chambers is explaining that there are 9 members of the group, and the heart has 4 chambers, 9 times 4 = 36, meaning all of them are equally putting their same amount of heart and soul into the album/group, and all have different styles, sounds, and techniques. They all bring something to the table, therefor "Enter the 36 Chambers".

What makes this album so great is that there's no reference point for the inspiration before this album. It's literally the first of its kind. Hip hop was still so new from 1990-1992, and no hip hop album had ever sounded like this before. RZA produced this on a SP-1200 sampler (which is very limited in capability) & Ensoniq sampler (maybe a few other samplers). It was just created from the vision in RZA's brain with no history to draw inspiration from. He figured out his own way of using the SP-1200 as his instrument. Wild

That gritty sound is part of the charm. Rzas production always has that grittiness
  • @ugonwigwe5136
fun fact: this album was released the same day as the legendary third album by another NYC hip hop outfit tribe called quest, midnight marauders. this is a MUST LISTEN!!!! its widely considered a hip hop classic and it is my personal favorite 90s hh album, one of the landmark alternative hip hop releases. super momentous day for east coast hip hop as they were competing against the dr dre's west coast g-funk mainstream rap dominance
  • @joemomma6317
Please give Mobb Deep - The Infamous a listen in the future. Easily one of the best hip hop albums of all time.
  • @newcombilbao
This album makes me feel like a giant. Nothing can touch you while 36 chamber is in your headphones.
  • @Spaceoditty
Watching someone listen to 36 chambers for their first time and not being a hip hop head, yet get all the things that this album embodies is very enlightening and made me smile the whole way through. Kudos to you. Ironman by ghostface is an album you would definitely get into.

YouTube checks are still running on this (YT has been slow today, checks are what determines if a video gets blocked or not). There's a SLIGHT chance this gets blocked? I hope not. Either way, love y'all. You really are the best community ever. Enjoy!
  • @iyaramonk
It can't be overstated what a change of sound this was. Really was nothing like it when it came out. And I think the "basement" mix was something they aimed for.
  • @PhilHug1
I highly, highly recommend listening to Mobb Deep - The Infamous. It's a classic! That album along with Wu-tang, Nas and Biggie lead to East Coast rap gaining a resurgence after years of West Cost dominance. The album has a cinematic feel to it too. The group has two members: Prodigy and Havoc. Prodigy was definitely top 5 lyricist in the 90s and Havoc is one of the best hip hop producers ever. They're also from Queensbridge like Nas (he's featured on the album). You can tell how impactful the album is by how long the Wikipedia page is.
  • @treasey8655
Fun fact: They held a rap tournament between just the members of the Wu Tang clan and the winner would get his own solo song on the album. Method Man won so he got his own song.
  • @kaodik
Man this made me tear up...feeling and seeing one of my favorite albums from one of my favorite times in life thru your eyes and witnessing it again for the first time...wow..meant alot. Thanks for this. I appreciate it
  • @seanluv1
Bro you really get it. You like the songs that you are supposed to like. You REALLY like the songs that you are supposed to REALLY like. You have graduated. Welcome to Hip-Hop. You are a pleasure to watch. By the way GZA is pronounced with a hard G.
  • @badvibes2568
Big L lifestyles of da poor and dangerous is an underground classic. One of the all time greats who taught jay z how to rap and even nas admitted he feared when he heard for the first time. Definitely worth checking out his freestyles and albums.
  • @ethefp
The history of Wutang is so wild in that they were able to negotiate themselves to do solo projects on different labels. Which was unheard of with hip hop at the time. I'm glad you're able to listen to it for the first time. Listening to it in 1993 was magical. I'd recommend you check out their solo work immediately after through Wutang Forever. There's an interesting evolution you'll notice through that stage of their career. Especially Meth, RZA and Ghostface and Raekwon.
  • @LORDPENTUS
RZA produced the intro track Dark Fantasy btw
  • @Arsolon618
A human heart has 4 chambers, so the 36 chambers are the collective heart of Wu-Tang's members.
  • @snitskymcgee
Moment of Truth by Gang Starr is a 90’s album you would love Bob! Dj Premier is one of the greatest hip hop producers ever
  • I can say this with 100% certainty: No one ever has or ever will sound like ODB. 30 years on from this album dropping, and he's still 1 of 1. A true original who is sorely missed.
