Fun fact: you don't have to use fast friends for steps at the machine. You can slowly upgrade your characters just by running as them or using your hoverboard, and then you can go to the machine when you max out your steps to upgrade to the next mastery level, and repeat until you've reached max mastery level. It is faster to use fast friends, but if you want to save red rings, I'd recommend just playing as the character you want to upgrade.

This update is pretty cool and I really like this event. An courses we are going to upgrading Classic Sonic max and I really love that you can use your fast friends Chao Max your Characters in SSS. You definitely need a lot of fast friends to upgrade Classic Sonic to Max. Just mentioning I use to have 22,000 red rings and now I have 13,000 and I got to head Auto Run so I can get some red rings. While always I enjoy this update.

As of typing this I am currently in the process of unlocking Classic Sonic, but he is one of the characters I plan on maxing out. The other two that I currently own are default Sonic, Grind Shoe Sonic, Shadow, and Neo Metal Sonic (unlocked him literally just a few minutes ago). That list will obviously grow as I unlock new characters.

They need to start giving out Red Star Rings in surplus now that the necessity for them has increased greatly.

There are so many characters in SSS that I don't know where I'm even gonna start with the upgrading.😂😢

I already spent a lot of Red Star Rings getting a full squad of level five Fast Friends. I was at 18,000 Red Star Rings and now I’m at 500. While this is cool, it’s going to be very expensive and time consuming to get enough Fast Friends to level up a character (Classic Sonic). I’ll probably grind via Auto Run or something like that when I play because I’ve already thrown so many Red Star Rings down the drain. Anyway, like I said, this is a cool update! I just need to control my spending. 😅

Happy Thanksgiving, Chris! I'm not going to lie, this update is definitely one of the best updates to come to the game. Literally, at first you could only upgrade pets, but now, we can happily upgrade our characters. Also, I take the CSDG pledge to upgrade and max out all Classic Sonic skins. I say this update is important because we might actually need update characters for future updates. I'm actually surprised that trading is still not in the game, so I'm assuming that's until next week. I got very little Red Star Rings, so I got some grinding to do! If you need Red Star Rings, I recommend doing your daily challenges or adventures every 4 hours. Auto run works, too, but you o ly get one every 5 minutes. That's why adventures work for me the best. But, hey, I like this update, and the devs have been doing well with the game, and shoutout to them!
