I think according to the official canon, Sophitia fought Cervantes and shattered one of the Soul Edges but was badly wounded by the shrapnel. Then Taki showed up, finished Cervantes off, and took Sophitia to get medical attention. Then, Siegfried showed up, tried to take the remaining Soul Edge, the sword came to life as the Soul Edge character, Siegfried fought and killed it, and the Soul Edge sword. He unfortunately didn't know that doing so would turn him into Knightmare...

took until i was much older to realize seigfried from soul calibur is link from oot's voice actor, but in this game (which i never played as a kid) it is so clear haha. very nostalgic in that way.

HOLY- We're covering SoulEdge/Blade now? Dope. I'm the majority kind that started with Soulcalibur 2...not the one with link in it, the PS2 version. Side note: Both Nightmare and Devil Kazuya were costumes in their respective first game, but became an individual character the next.

You mostly look invincible when you dominate your opponent. Whether it's Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, TEKKEN and Soul Calibur or others, you definitely give people a run for their money. And for that, you have my respect.

And you gotta admit, when Siegfried or Voldo uses their Soul Edge, they are DANGEROUS OP. Those 2 are my top favorite characters and I love their 2p/alternate costumes the most. I also love Soul Edge, Li long and Taki.
