2024 GMC Acadia Review: Slick Style, Familiar Personality

GM is updating all of its big three-row crossover-style SUVs this year, having started with the ‘24 Chevrolet Traverse and now progressing to this, the new 2024 GMC Acadia. It’s bigger than the last one, once again rejoining its Chevy Traverse and Buick Enclave brethren on GM’s biggest front-wheel-drive SUV platform, so it gains a lot of space inside and shares all of its underbits with those models — same engine, same transmission, same power output even. It even gets a newly off-road-capable AT4 version that can actually leave the pavement and get you back successfully. So why go for the Acadia instead of the less expensive Traverse? The GMC is much nicer inside than the Chevrolet, with a better multimedia screen, much more luxurious cabin and more standard equipment, too. It might cost a bit more, but you’re getting a lot for your money here.

Cars.com’s Detroit Bureau Chief Aaron Bragman trekked down to Hilton Head, S.C., to brave the god-awful humidity and plentiful alligators to have a first crack at the ‘24 Acadia on the roads and highways through the coastal marshes. (Per Cars.com’s ethics
policy, we pay for our own travel and lodging when attending manufacturer-sponsored events.) Here are his thoughts about the new, larger, much nicer Acadia’s driving qualities!

If i am not mistaken, Acadia offers a Luxury Package that adds double laminated windshield and front window glass, that Traverse does not provide. So Acadia with Lux package is expected to be quieter than the Traverse.
  • I hope they fixed the transmission problem. My new Acadia is setting in the shop at the dealership for the second time in six months waiting for a repair part to fix the transmission at only 4000 miles

If the oil filter isn’t bottom side I’ll still hate it

So it sounds like we should wait for the mid cycle refresh with a better tuned powertrain or possible future PHEV

The sound of that motor ruins the entire experience. Just sounds like its struggling getting to highway speeds. Specially compared to the old v6.
