ADDITIONAL REVIEW NOTES:
First off, these are $200 which is significantly cheaper than most flagship headphones, yet these compete in every aspect. Great ANC, Mics, comfort, app, and design

But let’s start off with that… the design

DESIGN
Pretty simple and understated
Black, Forest Gray, and White

Comes with a hardshell case

Simple aesthetic much like the old WH-1000XM3 headphones

Very lightweight plastic design

Appearance is a bit bulky for my liking

Comfort is great! My ears definitely get warm in the fake leather, but not too bad, and the clamping force is nice and gentle. Deep cups and plush cushions

Fit test - level 1 running = good, level 2 pushups = good, level 3 burpees = not secure enough

WEIGHT COMPARISON WITH OTHER HEADPHONES

Now like I said, these are $200 and for some reason, the $200 pricepoint is wildly competitive this year. I’m working on a best headphones under $200 this year so get subscribed if you want to see a comparison between these, the Beats Solo, Sennheiser Accentum Plus, Soundcore, and others.

CONTROLS
Swipe up/down
Swipe right/left
Cup
Double tap
Tap & hold

ANC TEST

SOUND ANAlYSIS
SBC, AAC, LDAC, LC3
Mega bass. The bass eclipses a lot. They sound dark and even dull. Instruments such as a snare sound less crisp. The bass is big and boomy.

And that’s just the regular mode. Let’s talk about the ULT button

But if your favorite song is Dazed and Confused or Yonkers or something and you just really want the bassline to rattle your skull, these are your headphones.

APP TOUR

FEATURES
Multipoint = yes
Battery is rated for 30 hrs or 50 w/o ANC
Auto play/pause

Missing: USB audio

Are these the best headphones under $200? Video coming soon. Subscribe

It's incredibly important to mention that the ULT button settings are ALL USER DEFINED. Nobody should make the mistake of assuming that "ULT2 is really overwhelming bass!" It's actually... whatever you set ULT2 to be. By default, yes, out of the box, it is Clear Bass +10. But if you want it to be +6, it can be. If you want it to be +4, it can be. If you want it to be +1, it can be. The button is essentially a physical way of toggling between the Off/ULT1/ULT2 three customizable presets, without needing to always go into the app to change it. You're not stuck with ULT1 and ULT2 as two fixed bass boost options, with ULT2 being overly excessive. That's not accurate (but it's how virtually every review I've seen on YouTube tends to describe it). You can customize each of them, and it's probably the most important feature of this Sony model. Anyone thinking of getting these, understand how customizable the bass presets for the ULT button are. You'd have to always be going into the app on XM4 or XM5 to adjust the bass.
  • Wow This is it!!! I will Order it to Replace My Previous XB910N. I Love Wireless Headphone with Heavy Bass Yay!!! ✌🏻😍✌🏻
  • @jnturner506
Looking forward to the $200 review - can you add JBL 770NC to that list Mike?
  • @euphrentic
I've always wanted to know what GENRE of music these reviewers listen to. If it's Rock, classical, acoustic etc, they won't appreciate lots of Bass. If it's Pop, R&B, Hip Hop or anything electronic, bass you can feel is what many buyers are after.

a little out of topic, but check out the new Marshall minor IV, for some reason it's just recently launched but went under the radar especially with the Nothing ear being introduced on the same week

Hi, i think it would be interesting to compare this ULT wear with Skullcandy crusher 2 anc, i've got both and they are very pleasant for watch movies and listen sort of music...thanks for your test 🙏
  • My favorite song is Axol x Alex Skrindo - You [Extreme Decaf + Slowed], which has a lot of bass, so I will have to try the headphones out with this song and switch between the ULT modes.
  • @ScottAshmead
Sounds like a great successor for my Sony XB950B1 that I have had to keep together with super glue due to the plastic construction disintegrating over time but still sound great
  • I have the ULT WEAR paird with my Sony Xperia 5 iii and eq set as close to the WH-1000XM5 as possible with ULT 1 Clear Bass 6 and they sound amazing. The phone does come with 360 audio free and ive been able to watch movies that sound like your at the cinema i can say the 360 audio i find is most of the time better on id say using them with a Sony device is is much better sounding than other brands.
  • @DevilsRejection
So I know the Beats Studio Pro are $350 MSRP, but they are almost always on sale for sub $200. Can you throw that into the mix? Also, the one thing I care about above all else is long term comfort. I bought some Anker headphones a while back that I had to donate to a friend because they felt like they were squeezing my head to a pulp.
  • @emiliojones5983
Great video. Yess, i would like to see it compared to the Sennheiser Momentum 4. Which one has a better bass, transparancy and ANC?
  • @ShebeerPrince
I've been using my Crusher Evo for the past 3.5 years. It still works fine. All good with a new ear pad. The battery is magnificent. The simulated bass of Crusher is too much. Hence I'm using my own EQ curve in Poweramp EQ, further with keeping the Crusher bass slider at 15%. And I hate the sound staging of Crusher Evo. I don't feel the staging is decent in Crusher. But recently I started noticing this ULT, XM4 and XM5. Now I'm curious to know the bass difference between both. I actually don't know if I'm missing out any overall better sounding headphones with decent bass as I haven't looked for an alternative all these 3.5 years with my Crusher Evo.
  • are they trying to be the Next Skullcandy? I hope everyone tries the monstrosity, the Skull candy Crushers were - they literally had separate powered drivers to only and only produce bass, and they would vibrate on your head. They took extra bass and turned it up to an 11. Now my audio preference is dead flat with my Hifiman headphones but the skullcandys were something else
  • He said these are the bassiest headphones he ever seen. Must not have seen many headphones. Ck-129, alpine, betron retro have fantastic bass.
  • Solid review mike. Could you also review wired headphones? I think more people are coming back to those
  • @RayMartini
Can you use the ANC with a wire without turning on the Bluetooth connection?
  • @miko1989100
So this is basically the evolution of the XB950, finally!
