Analog Four vs Perfourmer : which one is for you? In this video I will share my ideas on this two amazing instruments. Rather than do a pointless sound comparison , I will put more effort on the different uses these machines, which share the same voice architecture, can have.
My goal is to give you all the possible tools to understand which one suits you best.

"I don't know the technicalities, I just use them" could be the best sentence ever pronounced in the whole synth-related-world

A4 is a great box. The 4 track limit makes you work for it. You can surprisingly go deep. I like mine and always get surprised with the final outcome. Nice review / comparison. The per Four mer sounded better. Personally love the Elektron sequencer.

recently sold the A4. I must say I am happy to have this clunky menu diving out of the house.

Perfourmer craps all over the A4 sound-wise to my ears but I just can’t get by without patch memory. I’ve owned the A4 twice and used it a lot but it was always too buzzy sounding, I could never make it warm and inviting. I will not own it a third time 😅 One day I’ll pull the trigger on the Perfourmer… I just need one. Not sure I’ll be productive with it but let’s see!

The both !!! But my Vermona remains ahead of my analog4

Great video, don't forget you can patch the Analog Four CV outputs to the Analog Four CV inputs and save different configurations per pattern.

I love all about this comparison /review. Thank you!

"...but I still love my wife." 😆

A4 is a monster, now that i have the syntakt the thing that we need ASAP to make it even better are the green / purple mutes to mute across al patterns or per pattern and the ctrl all functionality
  • @mutantmanfred
For me A4 😊 But I would also like to have a Perfourmer. Both are amazing synth. Cheers!
  • When you created a "perfourmer matching" patch for A4, how did you set up your envelopes? Did you mapped attack/decay for Amp or Filter? Or did you mapped both? One of the things a hate with A4 is that you can't have the same envelope for filter and amp. So frustrating, making things too complicated.

Ok, so this has me torn .lol. Think what I would maybe consider is creating a Cnc cut template of the P4 deck to then draw the indicating knob positions onto said cut out. This being in such a way that I can apply a template layer and remake it as a preset when required . maybe .lol.

Thanks for the thoughtful video, buddy. Greetings from California.

Dont you think that Vermona sounds much better, more massive, rounded, more deep and analogish, electron sounds like vst..?
  • @siliconbrush
Best of both worlds? Get the eurorack version of the Performer filters and pass the A4 signal through it, you wont miss a thing
  • @Tptkk
Both are awesome in their own way. It really depends on your personal needs and preferences. I love the sequencing capabilities on the A4 and thus would choose the A4 but soundwise the Vermona sounds a little better.

Girlfriend or Boyfriend with a great job that loves and supports your music spiritually and financially, easy, both. Living alone, supporting yourself with whatever gigs you can come up with, easy, the Perfourmer, it just sounds better, so creamy and good. As you say, the Perfourmer is limited in what it can do, but what it does, it does with grace and beauty. Imagine a world where human beings shared the same qualities, simplicity with grace and beauty and everything up front. Bliss.
