Good video! You're the only person I've seen who sets the screens up like me with fixed car position relative to the environment so the car isn't bouncing around on the screens. I did it for the exact same reasons as you, so it's good to know I'm not insane. 🤣 It's massively valuable to the sim racing community to have the insights of a real life racer weighing in on these important topics. Thanks!
  • I can’t express how much I appreciate an actual GT3 driver is taking the time and effort to communicate with the sim racing community. Keep us up to date on your race schedule and you can count on me being in the grandstands.
  • @simaddiction
Since most of us have not had the privilege of sitting in or driving a real GT3 car, this is a much appreciated and enlightening video. Well done and thank you very much. You are earning new fans everyday both in sim and on the track.
  • Great video. Down to earth, knowledgable, and straight to the point. Love it. Keep up the great content and stay safe on the track.
  • @tizscotty
Great tips and explanations. it's what we need. I have seen other videos and I feel I have almost got it correct. 🙂Fine tuning the cockpit camera will certainly finish it off. Thanks!
  • @Alstevens83
I've only recently found your channel and tried your FOV settings and it's helped out in a couple of races. Keep up the great content and good luck with your upcoming season IRL.
  • @GG-si7fw
What a great tutorial. This applies to all sim games. Great job explaining the FOV relating to your AMG GT3 race car.
  • @marvinbrooks2601
Thank you Daniel!! This has helped to better understand how settings should be in a car. Looking forward to your next race
  • Thank you for your sharing how you handle Orient P (pitch) and Vanish Y (shift horizon)! Honestly I've never known what to do with them, but always thought they are important and have a big effect on the sense of perspective. That's a very simple approach but it works. I've now gone through all my cars setting Vanish Y to be about eye level and Orient P to have my hands match up with the wheel. Which is showing a hell of a lot less dash than before. But it feels much more right now. Just happy to have a method for sorting it out. Thanks!
  • Thank you so much for this! I've been struggling with FOV trying to use different fov calculators and even following the instructions from sampsoid and nothing ever seemed to work, there was always that weird distortion. With this explanation I was able to hop into several cars and make them immediately look and feel so much better and almost instantly noticed an improvement in lap times and confidence.

Hello Daniel, Georges from Lebanon, I want to congratulate you on this awesome guide. As all of your guides so far, very informative, straight to the point and learning new tips. keep them coming!
  • @dietrich-trn
Wauw! Thanks for this! I’ve watched a lot of FOV setup videos but your ‘non science’ approach beats them all!! It’s so good you point out it will be a trail and error thing and everybody should take in account that it’s all related to how you sit, how your monitors are compared to the location to your head and that’s the reason why there is no exact formula. Great job, thanks again, this helped me improve my laptimes after sitting my FOV up the way you described. Keep it up. Hope you have a video on how you set up your force feedback also so it would co-relate to your real driving GT3 experience.
  • @clicktoselect
thanks for this Daniel! I was able to use these methods to really improve my fov and feel of the cockpit
  • The attention to detail is what I love about this guy! Huge respect from Denmark! Peace! 🇩🇰🙌🏼😄
  • @rl77_racing
Great Video! I found many things similar to my FOV settings that many people don't do (cut off the dash for example, because I have a static dash mounted infront of the screens). By that, my visibile image much more matches the real steering linkage. Another thing is the tilting which I also adjust similar to you because it fits much more to the view through the windshield.
  • @AnnonymouS411
Great detail, helps us beginners getting started with our set-up. thank you
  • @Felipe7Morais
Really nice tutorial, it’s so cool to have a real driver talking about those things, cause if you have never been in a racing car, like me, it’s all about guessing things and usually we get it wrong! Thank you!!
  • Great stuff Daniel! I've seen other videos and such on this topic but none explained quite as well as you have here, which brings much more clarity to the subject. I learned a few more things that I wasn't aware of and I appreciate it! Cheers to you! 🍻
