I've been meaning to put this up a long time:
AFI playing at the Fireside Bowl in Chicago during the autumn of 1996 or 1997.

I think this is one of the first shows they played in Chicago or at the Fireside. They were touring on the So Proud of Ya record. My friends and I filmed this with three cameras. My angle was the only one that survived the passage of time. Back when the earth was still young I made an edit of a couple songs with the lost footage. You can see that by clicking my channel button.

Setlist provided by @moshforjesus
0:00 Half-Empty Bottle
1:40 Wake-Up Call
3:32 File 13
6:36 He Who Laughs Last...
8:20 Brownie Bottom Sundae
10:09 I Wanna Get a Mohawk (But Mom Won't Let Me Get One)
11:34 [Cuts in] Perfect Fit
12:01 This Secret Ninja
14:01 Aspirin Free

Enjoy

PS - I don't own this music just the footage and this video isn't monetized.

Davey sounds so good here, such a unique voice, young bands in the scene today lack unique vocalists like this.

What a relic. Fortunate to have people in this world who recorded shows like this.

I love how you can hear how well he can sing even when he's screaming. What a gem this is
  • I’m still convinced this is more fun than stadiums. For everyone, band and crowd.
  • The quality for the era is absolutely fucking amazing! Well done whoever!!

Jesus, this is making me feel old. I saw them at 924 Gilman.St. in Berkeley during this era. Unforgettable energy at that gig. This really is a time warp. Wow.
  • Holy fuck, this is the best AFI I have ever seen!!! I’ve seen them 11 times, but nothing close to this.... shit

Goddamn. Davey sounds album accurate AND gives 1000% despite the church prefab looking venue. Fucking legend.

Was only 12 riding BMX and this album was the reason I met the same friends I have to this very day. Wild. Still riding, still jamming some of the songs ❤
