The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is an upcoming 2023 action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. A sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017), Tears of the Kingdom retains many aspects of its predecessor, including the open world environment of Hyrule, which has been expanded to allow for more vertical exploration. Link, the protagonist of Tears of the Kingdom, is joined by Zelda and is opposed by a malevolent force that seeks to destroy Hyrule.

The lore of this game: Zelda and Ganondorf acquire fursonas while Link plays Minecraft.

Poor girl sealed herself with calamity for a hundred years and now she turned into a dragon for thousand years just to give link a fighting chance. She can't catch a break for real 😭😭
  • THIS has to be the bravest Zelda moment EVER! Knowing that she might never be herself again just to save the present time is incredibly heart breaking.
  • Correct me if I’m wrong, but Zelda giving up her humanity to give Link a fighting chance against Ganondorf mirrors how Hylia gave up her immortality in order to wield the Triforce and stop Demise from destroying the world

Link is such a tragic hero. No matter how many times he reincarnates, he loses the people he cares for the most. 😢

So basically this means that in the events of botw, Zelda was off somewhere in the distance flying around while simultaneously helping Link fight Calamity Ganon. Mind boggling stuff

I think the worst part is I was expecting her to swallow the tear and it would be this sorrowful but majestic sacrifice. Instead she is just a young girl, terrified and suffering as her body burns away from the inside out. Her shaking hands desperately reaching for the sword as she lurches forward, probably panicking at the thought that she may not hold on to her humanity long enough to grab it. Feeling her eyes become thoughtless, inhuman, bloodshot as she screams out to Link. Her last plea is not begging for her own life, only of her fear that she may be cursed to a life as a mindless immortal flying for all eternity alone in the skies, and that it might still not be enough. I think this Zelda wasn’t destined for the triforce of Wisdom. She was meant to represent Courage.

Zelda has sacrificed more then anyone else in the entire series. She’s given up her freedom, her love, and even her very mind to save the people of Hyrule. And it’s not even the first time she’s made such an inconceivable sacrifice. Nor even the second time! Zelda is truly as much of a hero as Link if not more so.

This zelda story is the best one yet. I legit cried when I found out she sacrificed herself to bring the master sword back to the present time.
  • What makes this even scary and darker is that the 3 dragons we encounter in BOTW could be the actual 3 goddesses (Din, Nayru, and Farore) who were once Hylian and ate the stones which turned them into mindless dragons.
  • @phoenixawry
What gets me is that as the dragon roars for the first couple of times, if you listen closely you can HEAR Zelda's screaming layered into it. It's so faint compared to the rest of the roar's sound, but it proves that even despite sacrificing her mind and being, she's still in there. This game slaps.
  • I like how Zelda called the Master Sword a “She” in honor of Fi from Skyward Sword. I’m called they included her in this Game even though she doesn’t have a speaking role like before
  • @theshiro1238
In a way, it's very sweet that during this whole time she has been watching over Link
  • I cried when i saw this... seeing her fly through the sky makes me even more sad because now she has to be like this forever... best and bravest Zelda from all timelines
  • @DarkblooM_IO
That frame where her eyes become dragon eyes had chills running through my whole body
  • Okay but was I the only one whose heart literally stopped when the music cut, Zelda said "protect them all", and her eyes went all draconic. Like that was a legitimate jumpscare.

This poor Zelda was raised never getting to be her true self, constantly hating herself for her failures, lost all of her family and friends and her kingdom within a matter of hours, days, spent 100 years fighting Calamity Ganon without a moment’s rest. She is finally freed. She is able to rebuild her kingdom and be herself. And then what, five short years later she loses everyone again. But unlike her 100 year battle, she has to lose herself. Every part of her that makes her Zelda. Not even her memories to keep her company. For all eternity she is cursed to roam the skies day and night, mindless and alone.

When I first saw the dragon I was immediately sure that it was Zelda but the scene was still heartbreaking It's like having a family member that's getting Dementia. They are still there but have no idea who you or themselves are
  • Anyone noticed how the other's dragon's have bigger ears? Does that means that the other's three probably were Zonai who transformed too?
