This may be just what I needed. I'm autistic, so certain types of unfamiliar social cues typically don't register for me. Recently however, someone I've known for quite a while said something that came off as being almost excessively defensive on my behalf. It just seemed weird at the time due to the joking nature of the conversation, but after I thought about it, they've been making an effort to hangout with me much more in the last two months. Maybe these are the signs I should be looking for.

There’s this girl in my period 6 (not giving the name.) and very recently we became friends because she complimented me about my style, 2 days in a row. After school was over she asked if we could be friends. I said yes, and unexpectedly she hugged me.
