Bruce is a true experimental aircraft builder. From plans, foam, fiberglass and a Viking provided engine, he built a starship:)

I built a Cozy (#183, I believe was the serial #) and flew it first in November of 1994. I used the 150hp Lycoming 0320 out of a Cherokee. The prop was a 2 bladed Bruce Tift (spelling of Bruce’s last name may be wrong) wooden prop. The speeds you mentioned in this video, were they true or indicated? I bring this up because 180 is low on what this plane is capable of with 150hp if you are speaking of true airspeed. I got an honest 215 mph true at 7500 feet and 75% power. I was burning about 8 gallons per hour on premium auto fuel. I sold the airplane to a gentleman I worked with in about 2000. He still has a flies this airplane today. He replaced the 2 blade wooden prop with a 3 bladed composite and speaking with him, has not achieved the true speeds I did since. You will probably get better performance with a 2 blade speed wise but maybe a little less in rate of climb. Sorry I can’t remember the specs on my 2 blade, too long ago. I like what I hear about your engines so far, the best to you.

Awesome bird. My pops had the vari viggen a few years ago. Safety birds according to Routan.

Thanks for making an informative video… nice walk around video of a beautiful plane

So, a few questions. Where was the radiator. Was it mounted below with a scoop and what size required. What blades and size did you go with for the high speeds. How's the noise level.

hope we might get a revisit on this plane and hear how it's doing. this is a build i have been thinking about for a while now. except i was leaning to the 195hp. What engine was he replacing? how much of a difference was the W&B. how was the fuel and cooling system set up?

Did the prop end up at the plans FS? I entertain the idea of a 195T in a cozy iv (wider at the firewall), but I'm unsure if it'd fit nicely. In these planes the prop can get pretty close to the ground on rotation, thus the Question. I'm sure with a custom cowl the other extents can be managed.... are there scale drawings of the physical extents of the engines?
