The City Council does not promote the Cathedral and its history enough. Peterborough has so much history dating back to the medieval period, it has survived Roman invasions, Saxon rebellions and the civil war. Two queens were buried there and the surrounding areas too have so much history. C’mon City Council you could do better at marketing! I’ve lived in a lot of towns in πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ and Peterborough is nowhere near the worst place to live. It’s also one of the fastest growing cities in πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§, funny thing that.

There are many places in the UK deserving this reputation, not Peterborough tho

Peterborough really isn't that bad tbf. The city is also home to an impressive art deco/ Mediterranean Lido, which isn't far from the Cathedral near to the Embankment. We also have a plethora of theatres from the Key Theatre to the New Theatre (formally Broadway theatre). There's quite a lot to do in the city from the Cathedral to Flag Fen and Ferry meadows, I mean, there are smany landmarks around the place. We have so much to offer. We now have a new university that is rapidly expanding every year with new buildings and courses on offer. We've got more coming soon to the city centre such as a new House of Fraser's, Flannels, Sports Direct, Sostrene Grene, Odeon Luxe, Gravity, WingStop, Popeyes and more opening over the next year in Queensgate to fill in vacant units and help to occupy the new Β£60million Queensgate development. I am sure the city will look vastly different by 2030 with new projects starting soon and should be completed by then. Thanks for showing Peterborough in a positive light. We have our problems, especially around Milfield, but I don't feel unsafe walking down Lincoln road, yea it may seem dodgy, but it does have so much to offer to so many communities, also there's so many amazing restaurant's down that strip from Lithuanian, Portuguese to Chinese and Indian! Tbh, I think the litter issues are mainly down to the businesses and inhabitants around that area, fsr they don't seem to care about street appeal and litter problems, maybe the streets around that area need more bins?? Lastly, our Cathedral is magnificent, absolutely stunning. You'll see when you reach the back end of the Cathedral that the ceiling bares a resemblance to the ceiling at King's College Chapel in Cambridge as they were both designed by the same architect who is called John Wastell. Come back soon to see more of Peterborough, maybe next time travel through Longthorpe and Thorpe road to see the impressive mansions (especially some of the new modern buildings) down there. Or if it's your thing, we have a festival called Under that you could attend, which is D&B, electric and house music, if that's your scene. It does well as thousands attend this event every year, it also attracts the biggest DJ's around from Roger Sanchez, Todd Terry, Judge Jules, Sub Focus to Shy FX and that's located at Nene park under the Nene Parkway where Urban life meets nature. Cheers guy's for showing this great city. It's not perfect, but where is in this world rn! Have a good one and I hope you come back soon!

One of the big selling points is Ferry Meadows...bit difficult to get to if you didn't drive in!

There’s some lovely villages just outside of the city centre. Just like everywhere it has it’s good and bad places. The empty building at 22:07 has been like that for a long time. I’m not sure why as it would a brilliant bar. Perhaps it’s listed so can be more trouble converting. Personally I love paying pretty cheap rent (compared to the rest of the Uk) and I can get into central London in just under an hour on the train. Perfect for dipping in and out for the weekend. I barely go into the centre these days. But For Β£700 a month I definitely wouldn’t get a two bedroom, two bathroom spacious flat in London.
  • Pre 2001 Lincoln Road was fairly clean with a few pubs and a variety of shops. Sadly, it is now full of off licences catering for our eastern European folks who enjoy a few drinks. We also have a large number of takeaways and grocery stores which attract a greater footfall of people to the area. Werrington village is nice if you head further into Werrington you’ll find issues there too. You go to any city centre area in any city you will find the built up areas are a little worn out- Peterborough is no different. I'm sure if you had got 'stuck' Karolina's Polish/ Lithuanian skills and/or your Punjabi/ Hindi/Urdu would have helped you out.

I enjoyed watching your video. I’ve lived in Peterborough all my life, it’s not as bad as some people make it out to be. I have lived in Werrington Village for the last 12 years & it is a very nice quiet area compared to where I lived previously near the city centre

The Cathedral looks spectacular πŸ’’πŸ™πŸ» These ceilings 🀌🏻

I'm loving these UK videos. Nottingham next? Would make for a good video too I think.

You are the most comfortable British accent I've ever listened to

I have a small criticism. No offence intended. If you use the toilets in a shop or other outlet, McDonalds in this case, it is always a nice gesture to buy something from them or to put a donation into the charity box. Anything really just as a thank you. Other than that, top marks !
  • @Twogirlsabroad
Seems like a nice city but that being said I feel like it doesn’t have a good tourist atmosphere. I think that’s why it has a bad reputation. Just my thoughts. But great video as always!!
