Note: It is never advised that one "chases" after or attempts personal interaction with the perpetrator of a crime. In the case of a 'Hit and Run', if it is imperative that one acquire further identifying information on the offending vehicle, (ie: license plate), one must obey the 'rules of the road' and maintain mindfulness of their own safety and the safety others. "Chasing" a driver may cause them to panic and drive in a hazardous manner - placing their, and others' lives at risk.

When following, keeping one's distance and obeying local laws sometimes means failing to attain your objective (as was the case here).
