This is my go-to technique for basically all songs I play by ear. I am constantly referring to this video in other tutorials so definitely give it a watch.

Ahh man, it's so refreshing to hear a Dublin accent on something like this. Go on, ya good thing.

Absolutely great. Very practical and down to earth training. Many thanks.

To my ear, this technique reminds me of some spices... just a touch is enough. To play these could get very boring very quickly. That's the fascinating thing about keyboard playing... the combinations that "work" seem infinite IF you know how and when to use them properly. I can poke around for hours and produce, to my ear, beautiful sounds... not songs, for sure... just beautiful sounds. Some days that's just fine with me.

For those who can't play ocasional tenths, there are ways of rolling 1-5-10, or in early jazz you can just use simple stride/swing bass with notes 1&5 on beat one, then a higher triad or fatter chord (occasionally) on beat two, and in any convenient inversion of course.
