Tropics Watch: Signs hurricane season could soon wake up (2022)

Published 2022-08-14
Tropical moisture is surging into Texas as an area of disturbed weather is moving on shore. While the system is better organized, it moves on land Sunday preventing any further development. Flash flooding will be possible, but the rain is much needed in Texas.

Saharan dust continues to dominate the tropical Atlantic elsewhere. By the last week of August, there are signs stronger waves will roll off of the continent. The Atlantic basin will become a little less hostile during that time as well.

Thank you! I enjoy seeing meteorologists take their time to make YouTube videos. You have a good platform to make highly detailed videos, which you can’t regularly do without an immediate threat to your area on your regular on air time. Plus, a few more people search these YouTube videos because they understand the Tropics a little bit more. I’m well outside your TV market are, I’m in Miami. Thankfully I can access the Orlando stations as I do like the meteorologists I am seeing from that area, thanks to the YouTube videos. So In the event that your area is ever directly hit by a Hurricane, I hope not, I know where to watch live coverage. Please keep up these great videos. It brings a good balance to the YouTube Hurricane forecasting space.

Thanks For The Accurate Updates. ✌️😇🙂❤️🌹🙏🌈🦋👐🍀☔⭐🌞
  • yes I agree it only takes one hurricane like Charley ...year ago it hit our area Port charlotte and few out there are thinking we're done ..haha the switch hasn't turned on yet ..yes 24th something is going to roll out of africa and once that saharan dust leaves look out the time is near never stop preparing ...quiet before the storm is my thinking.

So what you are saying is that this is the calm before the storm.
  • @jbr84tx
It would be very unusual if we don't get at least 2 hurricanes by the end of August.
  • @carolinamtzf
Got a windy storm for like 30 minutes here in Monterrey that’s about it

Ugh we are not south central Texas. We are the Rio Grand Valley of Texas. Or call us The Valley, or just SOUTH TEXAS. WE ARE SOUTH TEXAS MAN.
  • This could be the Third hurricane season in the past five years where there were no hurricanes in the month of August. So is the Atlantic Ocean in a cooling trend? As of August 22nd the gulf is only 85 to 87. Not very conducive for mega storm development. The National Hurricane Prediction has been reduced once again. So, explain to the world how the next hurricane season cannot be predicted with any accuracy, but that those same people can predict weather 10,20 or even 50 years from now?
  • I really hope they dont blame the lack of hurricane season in the Atlantic on global warming 🤦🏻‍♂️😂

The moral of the story is that anyone who goes out two weeks on models is a nitwit. Congratulations!
  • 🤣 maybe but if you look at it now there's nothing for the next couple of weeks and I know the 4th storm usually isn't till the 15th it's going to be late this year and once again you are wrong with the above average hurricane season but hey your in the only job when being wrong is above average 🤣 you can't even predict tomorrow's weather right
