For those of us growing up in Metro Detroit during the Rasheed/Big Ben/Billups/Hamilton/Prince era, Ben Wallace was the definition of Detroit toughness. #3 was one of those rare players who could dominate and change the course of a game from the defensive end. Listed at 6’9”, he was actually closer to 6’7”. But What he lacked in height, he more than made up for in wingspan length, near-legendary strength, and unbridled ferocity. He had an uncanny knack for being in the right position for rebounds and blocked shots, as well as being a steal machine in the passing lanes. Every screen he set was like a brick wall. Ben was team captain that led by example: This was a warrior who could shut down Shaq and Yao Ming in their primes, guard any position 1-5, and always went to war for his teammates. I will always have a place in my heart for this man: a champion who rose from obscurity, who, along with a bunch of players most teams had written off, gave the Motor City our 3rd championship. Detroit vs. Everybody
  • In 2k5, if you played with the pistons, Ben's hair would randomly be an afro or in cornrows.

wow even Ron Artest wanted no part of Ben, he shoved Arrest back like he was a child.

Ben Wallace was without a doubt the best defender of the 2000's. He was undersized, yet, he was so intimidating that even Shaq was afraid of him. He knew that every time he had to go against Ben it would be a tough long night. Dunkman, I salute you, you've just done the first great (actually amazing) mix of Ben Wallace.

That '04 Pistons team was one of my favorites ever.

my all time fav player. cant believe he played center at 6'7 (listed 6'9 but thats with his afro). he was incredibly undersized in height and weight as a center (body of a SF) yet he was one of the most dominant C during this era, of course besides shaq but he still gave him a hard time. they say charles barkley or draymond green is impressive bc they were undersized, naw take a look at ben wallace, 4 time DPOY.

Never saw a man leave it all on the court more than Ben Wallace did. Today's NBA players look like high school teams compared to the level of effort Ben brought every day. I was lucky enough to grow up as a Pistons fan during this era. They won the title when I was 12. One of the most inspiring teams of all time. Thank you Ben for giving Detroit your all. Thank you from all of us who watched you sacrifice every single thing you had. Thank you for bringing a title to Detroit and showing us what championship effort truly is. From Virgina Union University...BUH BUH BUH BUH BEN, WALLACE! We will never forget.
  • @Airmaster167
I will never forget the year the Pistons humiliated a Lakers team with 4 future hall of famers and a HOF coach.
  • Ben Wallace made Shaq his bitch during the finals against lakers.. love this guy.
  • Dude was a BEAST! Every night you expected a few blocks, a steal, and about 14 boards. I miss this guy and his style of play.

WHO'S HERE AFTER HE'S GOING TO THE HALL OF FAME??
