Ha, the opposite lock! I used to be a glass collector there in 1980!  £5 a night used to cost £4 home in a taxi!!
  • A friend told me about your videos really enjoyed !! Worrying how many of the venues I frequented from 1980 to 1986. I lived the 80s and the New Romantic scene happy days!!!!

God... scary... good memories and bad ones I'm ashamed of (alcohol induced of course). Mad times.

Good montage of the Birmingham pub and club scene then. Though never went to all these places if your old enough like me u would remember there was a club called the ZOO up by the archway by gt hampton st was very popular with the new romatics scene. Then of course everyone did pollyannas in newhall st if u were a student in the 70's etc. I still remember when i actually got into libertys that was th eplace to be seen in with all those football wives glittering in there. Good times when everyone made the effort to dress up and enjoy a good night.

Pagoda Park I went there once but I mostly went around Sutton to the knot or the wine bar then to park Avenue.
  • I liked it then in the early 80s, recall going to the Top Rank suite on November 29 1980, didn't mean to kick that mans drink over, he'd left it on the floor, and Romeo and Juliets in 1981, the Powerhouse opened in 1982, I didn't go to all the places either, they were good times

In the 70's there was a club call the Gizmo. It was located on Southside. If anyone remembers this can you remind me of the address? It was my first experience in a gay bar.

We're the clubs better then than now? Just don't hear young people talk about clubs. Was always up brum. Snobs, liberty's, Sam Wells etc. Can imagine the taste of ciggies now. Younger days eh. No 9 bus on way home or taxi. Last bus was always crowded. Can't remember as much as I should lol.
