Our reporter Carmen Parahi catches up with a young rising rugby league star in the making and his whanau. Brandon Smith (Te Rarawa) has already signed a contract with the North Queensland Cowboys and despite his Australian start he will stay loyal to the Kiwis if he gets a chance.

So mean yous done a story on him in 2013 and now he’s a kiwi! Another success story we need to hear about. Sacrifices paying off. Wouldn’t have been easy for the parents but definitely built resilience for him. Awesome he stuck at it!!

Now he is one of the NRL's best players. Good on him. Only bigger and better things for this young man. Hopefully he will be a rugby league legend by the end of his career. If you ever read this Brandon, you my friend are already a bloody legend. Go hard mate. P.s. you should play for the knights.
