that's because it was incorporating the Spanish influence from the conquistadors, which is what this season is all about - nature vs nurture, tradition vs influence, old vs young

Didn't care much for the introduction part of the song, but after that this became really amazing. They should have used it, im sick of hearing the same intro season after season.

I like how the part at 0:38 (after the flutes), which is usually over-prominent in other themes, isn't here, it just blends in with the rest of the music without being overpowered.

This was the theme originally but Mark Burnett didn't approve it.Russ was really bummed about it and then they started showing the intro rarely.That's why the intro music is not as good as before because it doesn't even get shown.

The reason for the newer intros being less unique and not shown in full length during the actual show was actually because of this season. Russ Landeau made this for Nicaragua, but Mark Burnett rejected it. Furious, he decided to extend the Borneo theme and use it for the season, instead. Now, because of his feelings, the intros aren't shown anymore, and the full-length ones on the Internet are almost never truly unique. Most of them even borrowed parts from Micronesia's ending. Worlds Apart took bits from other seasons, too, in the same way All-Stars did, except with parts from Heroes vs. Villains and China, for example.
